When viewing an article I've already rated, it would be nice to have the score I gave it displayed rather then the score board form.

I think displaying both would be a good idea.

That would suggest that you can vote for the article again, and might confuse people

Hi
I get so many bad emails (ok, not that many) when replying so posts. IMO the user should have to revalidate his email when he changes it (and when he registers, it was so long ago ), and secondly should not have the ability to change it on individual posts. I agree some people have multiply accounts for say work and home , but that is also an idea
My 2 cents
PS: and the emoticon bug(s) could be fixed too eg ( )

You do. You can change your email address at the end of each post.

Read it again! Thats exactly what should NOT be allowed, as some "stupid" people keep there reply to email checkbox check and I have to receive an undeliverable mail and the CP has to try and mail the an unknown address placing an extra burben on badwidth again.
"I dont have a life, I have a program." Also, I won't support any software without the LeppieRules variable.

The "Stop Degrading Articles" thread in The Lounge has given me an idea - perhaps the rating system should be skewed in favour of people who supply a comment? That way, those that choose to give an article a low rating with no explanation are penalised...
IMHO giving an article a low rating with no explanation reeks of cowardice... I think the author has a right to an explanation. Constructive criticism is a good thing, so explanations should be encouraged...

I think this will only result is stupid comments or useless characters typed.
What I would like to see is that the author can't vote on his own article.

And you'll prevent him from creating other Cp accounts in order to vote on his own article ?

Hardly, but as everyone knows, it wont weight much when you vote with a new(er) account. So this wont be much of a problem.

I think the article rating should also include the number of views and number of downloads.
There are only 10 kind of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don't.

On one hand you have 400,000 unique visitors per month.
On the other hand, you have 100 votes for the monthly competition.
Makes me wonder if there anything wrong in the stats ??...

Nothing is wrong I think, just only 100/400000 percent of vistors votes.

Chris, not sure if someone has suggested this earlier.
I suggest we club together some of the least used forums into one forum called Off Topic forums, where you can ask any tech questions and not get flamed. I hope there are some questions which people are unsure of on which forum they belong to, and can post these questions here.
But I guess, the forum would be success only when more people are onto that just like lounge/soapbox.
I know that you would have thought about this earlier, but any specific reasons on why this is not done.
Cheers

the rating ui for articles and messages is different.
i.e. 1 - 5 for messages and poor to good for articles...
surely they should be the same.....

Why the emoticon is not available in the message editor?
If that feature it based on the birthdate then this if() doesnt work.
(Chris M.: Is that a kind of "if you are under 8 or younger" statement?)
