hello all,
when i run the application, session-Id generated is different that of the stored in the database .
thats why When i run the application second time, session lost its value and shows that that session-Id is stored in the database..
how the session-Id differs its value from that of tje database session-Id...?
For instance,
on running the application, the session-Id generated is gsdqis45xtwywdrtidnoa1rn
And the session=Id stored in the database is gsdqis45xtwywdrtidnoa1rncbdb2cbd
.In other words, Database sessionId has 8 more number of bits than that of the application sessionId.
what could be the error...?

You have actually mixed the client side code and server side code.
You cant mention onclick ="return OnClick()" for anchor(a) tag. It will go find a javascript method OnClick.
If you want to run the server side OnClick, I would recommend you to use
<asp:linkbutton onclick="OnClick" runat="server">
It will do exactly what you are looking for.

I did try the onclick = "return OnClick" it gives me the following error when i click the link.

The Linkbutton work well, but my manager want the hyperlink, please help, oh im new in asp.net.

But if i do that it wont display the text file. ok this is how my program must work.
1.i have two text files, lets say for user1 and user2,
2.and the web pages for user1 and user2.
3. by default the web page for user1 display half info about the user1 form the user1 text file,
4. when u click the hyperlink on user1 it must redirect you to display page where full information about user1 will be displayed.
5.Same applies to user2 but the display page is one page.

Can you explain why your manager wants a hyperlink per se? It doesn't actually make sense to expect it. If he's after pure HTML that's redirecting to display.aspx?whateveriditis=x then there wouldn't be any point in raising an onclick event, you'd just use a repeater control to generate a list of hyperlinks in whatever format you want (it's not exactly an elegant use of .NET imo plus I don't know if the details being displayed are restricted on a user basis).
I agree with the previous answer, just use a linkbutton. On the client side it won't make any difference to them but it will do exactly waht you want, i.e. raise a server side call.

I think creating template and replacing with original values is not a big deal. It depends on your logic.
You can create a combobox in your editor, which will show the template arguments, say it will replace all the elements <##FirstName##> written in this format(whatever you think) with some values which you might take from a dialog box on submit.
I have done similar kind of thing before, and I think it is not a big deal to do.
Just parse your document, and find all the elements that matches <## -- ##> and give an option to replace them with values.

give parameters name in FCK fix. for e.g. for Name tell client to [Name] input in this way where they want the actual name.
from your application get the file in string builder and read the entire file and replace the [name] with name (same for all the parameter they entered in [lastname] way).
here you have to fix the design (for passing parameter (i.e. [name])). if client enter {name} instead of [name] then it may not work.

i have two aspx page and two page is showing two different sessionid.using Label1.Text = Session.SessionID.ToString(); why
it is happen when two page is in same session. why page wise sessionid will be different. please discuss this concept

What are you talking about ?
I think your browser is not taking the SessionCookie properly. Check if it is disabled or not.
Browsers generally store the sessioncookie for every site you visit, so that on your next visit it will match the sessioncookie with the server and find appropriate session for you.
If this is not your case, Are you looking at a HttpHandler / HttpModule ?
ASP.NET Page class implements IRequresSessionState. If your own custom HttpHandler or HttpModule doesnt implement IRequiresSessionState, you will not find Session Id correctly.

i am assigning the value in session variable but it is getting null when i am checking.
suppose i have two link button and when i am clicking the link button then i am assigning some value in session variable
but when i am checking again when link button is clicked then found value null.
my code is

so when first time click on link then LinkButtonClick event will be fired and i put some value in session and
processLogTask()
routine will be called and it will take long time to finished.
basically i design in this way when user click on link button processlongtime will be called so if same user click again
on linkbutton then processlongtime will not be called if processlongtime routime is still running. but here i have seen
that when first time user click the session variable is assigned with 1 but when user click immediately the link button
again then session variable value found null. why session variable value is getting null whenever it is already assigned.
please help how to solved this session problem.tbhattacharjee
