I learned C before there was a Turbo anything but Turbo C++ was my first C++ compiler.

Turbo C for DOS help files were excellent. The reincarnated Turbo C++ is not only complete crap, the help is junk as well. It's a shame since I'd like to see some legitimate competition for Visual Studio.

That was my way of saying that I have no idea. I tried the new Turbo/Borland C++ product a few months ago and was very disappointed.

I don't understand where or why you're unable to add files to your project. Are you getting errors? Is the IDE not finding the files? Are you not finding the option to add them? At what point are things failing?

I have one doubt please give me the answer.

I read some where in C++, if we want to access base class constructor using derived class constructor like bellow is possible:

class base
{
 base()
};

 class derived:public base
{
 derived():base()
 {
 }
};

normally i used like bellow

class base
{
 base()
{
}
};

 class derived:public base
{
 derived()
 {
 }
};

My question is what is the difference between both approaches. In which cases I have to use first one and in which cases i have to use second one.

In this case there is no differnce.
But consider this case.

class base
{
    base(int i)
    {
    }
};
   
class derived : public base
{
    derived(int j) : base(j)
    {
    }
};

In the above case you have to explicitly call the base class constructor like this.

For the example you give -- they are the same.

The compiler is able to figure it out -- as "base" has a default constructor... "base()"

The easiest way to see what's up here is to write both examples and run it through the debugger.

Hello everyone,

I have to do programming to make a small, straightforward game operating over a LAN

network. I think I should use Visual C++ and MFC libraries from Microsoft, because it's easy to

learn and use. Dealing with some network programming concepts such as TCP, UDP and some

Socket API is also essential.

I have no background in gaming and network programming. So, I face some difficulties.

Can you please give me some simple sample games source codes such as hangman, bingo,

puzzle etc., with or without networking, for me to get familiar with.
I appreciate projects built with MS Visual C++ 2005/2008. But any advices are invaluable!

thats not the way things are done around here in general - you're expected to do some research and post particular questions about code - not ask for a solution to be handed to you on a plate

how about you describe why its not working - what symtoms are exhibited, error messages are displayed etc - we dont read minds !!

well, it seems that your way of detecting which com port the phone/modem is connected to is wrong, doesnt it... so you need to find a better/more reliable way.

I would write a test program/stub that enumerates the com ports, inc virtual ones, sends a known 'AT' command to the modem, and waits for a response - anything that doesnt respond [isnt connected], anything that does is a candidate. Now, if you have more than 1 com port that responds, is there an AT command for example you can issues that says 'identify the modem type' - that might tell you where your modem/phone is ...
