The fact that no school would assign Hello World, as VC does it for you, and certainly not in Nov, is one reason that this is obviously a troll. But why are you asking him to help you lose our bet ?

And in relation to an earlier comment, most people here ARE good, but there more than 52,000 members, so you've got to expect one or two strange ones. This guy is not even a member. Even so, I've had a few flame wars, mostly regarding my opinion of US gun law. One great thing about this place is that we can yell at each other a bit, and not hold a grudge. If not for that, I'd have been tarred, feathered and run out of town a long time ago.

Since you asked, as I'm rarely inclined to give my opinion on much of anyting unless the mode stikes me: I think the US gun laws are a load of cr**. I have an M1, a 410, 2 12- gaueges, a 10 gauge, and an 8 gauge which dont do much, also have a 308 (my favorite deer rifle), 30.06 and a few hand guns. I'm a hunter, not for sport, I feed my family on it. I've been shot once, stabbed twice and never had to bring a gun into the frey.(and on two of those occasions I could)... US gun laws aren't aimed at those of who are law abiding, they are trying to disarm crimmals.. but lets face it, they are crimminals.. if some law is passed that says a particular firearm is out-lawed, do you think that they will get in line to turn it in. I admit that there are too many guns here, but they are here, I cringe everytime a legislative question comes up wether to further disarm the honest citizenery or not. In the end... the crimminals will keep there weapons..all the worse for those of us who obey the law.

US guns laws seem to me to only exist to ARM citizens, I have never heard of any attempt to disarm anyone.

This is a dumb argument. OF course criminals won't hand in their guns, but if guns are freely available it's much easier for them to get them in the first place. What's more the point is the children and general wackos who get them. We had a school shooting in Australia the other week. The shooter legally owned all of his guns. It was huge news, the first school shooting here I know of. I've read of two in the US since that happened.
Additionally, if my home is invaded or someone tries to rob me, it's unlikely they will have a gun. If I was in the US, I'd have to count on it.

Dear All ,
I got a problem can you solve this,
The user as he moves on the mouse over a Microsoft Word Document,
i should be able to fetch the word at his mouse pointer and display the word
in vc++ program. Usually the mouse points at a character , i should be able
to fetch the whole word. This is only for the client area.
How can i attach to the running instance of word document ,
and how to relate the pixel on screen to the coresponding text (word).
Any idea, how to go about the problem,

Well, this is a variation on a question that seems to do the rounds quite often. If it's within Word, it may be possible, but I have no idea how. Have you looked at MSDN to see what methods Word exposes via COM ?

Application.Selection is a good automation object to start with. btw, Selection.Text returns the current selection.

All I can say is that there is probably no easy solution to this problem. To get help you should:
- browse the Word type library ( c:\program files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSWORD9.OLB )
- check out some microsoft newsgroups - there is an excellent search at http://www.tamaracka.com/mssearch.htm[^]. The best Word MVP there in my opinion is Cindy Meister - do a search on her posts and see what newsgroups you get.
- then there's http://www.mvps.org/word[^]
but as I said, I don't think there is an easy solution to this problem.
