Actually d@nish didn't insult anyone. All he did is tell the guy to try it. It's amazing what you can find out if only you try something first. The attitude d@nish got in reply was totally uncalled for.

1 person : purchase a book
8 persons : will answer showing him all the possibilities in creating an integer variable.
if that person ask the same question in here, I cannot imagine what kind of medicine he will take after he read the responses.

Here, it would have been the same kind of responses, but leaning more towards buying a book. Why? Because there's a lot more to declaring a variable to hold an Integer other than Dim x As Integer. There's also scope and visibility issues to consider. All of that discuss would take an entire chapter in a book. So, yes, buying a book and learing the basics of the language would be a better answer than Dim x As Integer.

As if this multiple backcoloring system ability is obvious/noticable property and every one should know it (WHICH IS NOT), in case that was true, I am 100% with d@nish response (whatever it was) because we did not see it. (but that was not the case)

Did d@nish try it? Did he put that 2 controls on a form and try to achieve that (in simple way) before he ask his question? because if he do, he will know that this property is not there. since he did not test, (in my opinion) he should not response with such an answer)
So (my first impression) he is making fun and he has no right since he did not test it him self.
When you answer "Did you try it" or "Check the help file" the answer supposed to be obvious AND the person who answer SHOULD know that the answer exist in "TESTING" or "READING" the help file.
If d@nish answer was "What have you tried?" yes, it will make a difference, because this answer will show that either this question has no specific question in it, and d@nish did not understand in specific the problem and he willing to help when he knows. but pointing Rabih to try it by him self and the solution is not there??I guess that is wrong. What you call that?

I knew that. He knew needed a customized control or needs to paint things himself. But, I do not believe in spoon feeding. If you are working in any programming language, you are bound to face challenges. I am a vb programmer working as freelancer and I have 5 projects right now, so if one in my project I see a control that maybe usefull to any of application, should I re-create it AGAIAN?

I will not re-create the wheel since someone (thankfully) has invent it before me, so I will use the wheel and adust it to my needs.

If you are (untill now) still finding your answer is (helpfull, and you correctly read the question, and correctly give an answer) then be sure we have a big problem of understanding each other and we will never meet in a middle point of understanding.

If I had learned something from being a member in this forum in the past, it is,
- I will NEVER post a question in here (although, I am sure that this forum can put msdn forum in there small pocket)
- but, I may post an answer.
Like now, I had a question in my mind and I don't know if it aplicable, (untill writing this sentence I didnot make any kind of research on it) and I have no clue about it.
If I still in my current situation (did not make research) I am afraid of asking it in here. because I can imagine the response I will get, but i am not afraid of asking this question is Daniweb or msdn or vbcity.
Such a decesion in not only because of your kind of response, but because you are getting courage from your collegue to doing it.

1) i read local msdn help
2) i browsed Google from its result pages 1 to page 7
3) i asked couple of my friends, people at work if they have any idea.
4) i asked this on msdn
5) then in the end i asked here on codeproject
anyway i got my answer on MSDN, SADLY the answers were here on codeproject but my search in google did not reveal them.

Since development work started getting outsource to the Middle East countries, especially India, there has been a huge rise in those very people asking all kinds of questions that a beginning student or very inexperienced programmer would ask. The typical level of detail when someone from that region asks a question is extremely low. There is usually no explanation of anything that was tried, nor any code snippets and a complete lack of knowledge on how to do research, like using Google or Yahoo. Your origianl post came very close to those specifications, and if there is anything we hate is someone who will not help themselves. ME providing a link in the original thread implies that i was searching for something but could not find it, if you want to go there, most of the VB results were related to ASP & it was custom table with cells that the users created themselves.

I said around here, meaing Code Project, that there was a huge rise, in the last few years, in people who don't have a clue how to do research, and most of those people come from the "East". FWIW, The link posted by EliottA showing the msdn help tells (also) nothing about changing "many backcolor for days" which leads in my opinion that either you "making fun of him" or "did not understand the question" and to be honest, the second did not came to my mind until now.

Try what he told. Make a form. Put the control in it and check its properties. See if it offers anything like SelectedDateBackColor. If it does, great. If it doesn't, how can I do this? May be Paint it myself or create my own control by extending the original. Then, try creating a custom control. If you get stuck somewhere, then post the query.
