First of all the only guess I could make of this question is that you want to connect to Webcam using C# right?
But, you need to tell us what the problem is and how far you you have done.
Anyways, Google [^]might me helpfull to you.

Use
DateTime.ParseExact("datestring", "formatstring", new CultureInfo("en-US"));
I think this will do the trick.

|
|
|
- use one of the Parse methods in DateTime class to create a DateTime instance; I use TryParse quite a lot.
- compare two DateTimes, don't work with strings for this

hi,
I will give an example to what i want.
I made a VB project named Project1, inside it i have Module1 and inside it a function named Fnc_xxx.
if i put this project into a solution together with C# project
how can i make a button in the C# form call the Fnc_xxx from the VB project.
thanks in advance.
|
|
|

In your C# project, add a reference to your VBProject (Right click "References", "Add Reference..." then select the "Projects" tab and pick "VBProj" or whatever your VB project is called).
Then:
VBProj.Form1 f1 = new VBProj.Form1();
string s = f1.FNC_xxx();
The "Using" statement will work here, too.

It is workin great, thank you.
can you tell me few more things:
1) how can I make it press a button ? (it seems i can only call functions).
2) how can I make it call a function from a Module in the vb project.
3) whats the full syntax for the "Using" statment ?
forgive my ignorance.
thanks in advance .
|
|
|
|
|
Lets deal with these in reverse order:
3) Look at the top of your C# source file. See the top five or more lines, all starting "Using"? Those are the using statements, predictably enough! All they do is stop you having to use the full name of an item when you use it. So, the "Using System.IO" statement means that you can write
string[] lines = File.ReadAllLines(@"C:\temp.txt"); instead of
string[] lines = System.IO.File.ReadAllLines(@"C:\temp.txt");
In the previous example, "Using VBProj" means you can say
Form1 f1 = new Form1(); instead of
VBProj.Form1 f1 = new VBProj.Form1();
2) See the example I gave you, which called a function from a module in VB?
1) You can't make it press a button. The user presses the buttons. What I think you mean is, "how do I get the notification that the user has pressed a button?" which is simple, just hook into the handler as normal:
butOK.Click += new EventHandler(butOKEndEdit_Click);
Anything you could do in VB, talking to a VB module, you can do in C#, talking to a VB module. .NET doesn't care what language you wrote the .NET code in, it all works seamlessly.

Thanks again,
I managed using the Module throgh the VBproject as reference.
Is there a way to Create a C# project (w/o any VBproject reference in it)
and add a vb Module to it ?
I tryed but failed.
Thanks.

I you mean "Can I have a project with a C# source file and a VB source file in it?" then no. You can have a solution with a C# project, and a VB project though.

i'm using 1.1 framework and my customer using 2.00 framework.
he is saveing a Serialized file that have MemoryStream.
when i'm trying to Deserialize the file i get an Exception.
(if i try to Deserialize in 2.00 framework it's ok)
how can i Deserialize in 1.1 framework ?
|

Which serializer are you using? If it is XML, then you stand a chance of reading different framework versions, but Binary is very unlikely to work. This is an unusual situation, the normal way round is for the customer to have the more outdated software!
There are two ways I can think of:
1) Install framework 2.0 - this would be the better long term solution. In fact, go the whole hog and go for the latest version!
2) Create a 2.0 version of your app, deserialize. Manually write all the important data to a separate file. Create a special version of your 1.1 app, which can read the separate file. Serialize. Do not loose the two intermediate programs as you will need them again if you do. Create copious notes on what to do, how, and why.

the file is Binary.
the problem is that my program is distribute to a lot of people,
and i have a problem when tomorrow microsoft develop 4.00 or 5.00 or 6.00 framework version,
and i can't compatible my old version to the new one.
|
|
|
|
|
Then you realy have no choice but to create intermediate programs to use to solve the problem each time it occurs.
I would strongly suggest you look at moving to XML serialization for the next version, with a conversion program to update older data files from 1.1 (or 2.0) to the latest version.
Not that it's a lot of help to you, but I do generaly try to avoid serialization for just this reason - it's not always avoidable, so use the most portable version you can!
Good luck!

Take a look at Custom Serialization - MSDN[^] to see if it is of any help.
From the page.
By controlling serialization, it is possible to ensure serialization compatibility, which is the ability to serialize and deserialize between versions of a type without breaking the core functionality of the type.

Dear All,
I am trying to establish setup using Click Once Deployment. I have following questions.
1. My Application for sure uses .Net framework 2.0, can we integerate .Net Framework into my setup project which should be installed prior to application setup?
2. My Application also requires Adobe Acrobat Plugin to read PDF Files, can we integrate PDF Reader or any other resoures "DLLs of Adoble Only" into My Application which should be installed prior to My Application setup?

Hi Abdul,
If you open your project properties, and look in the "publish" section, you can find settings for all of this (required assemblies etc etc).
Click Once enables you to create a bootstrapper that will install additional software, either from the server you are hosting the application on, or from the vendors homepage.
Hope this helps,

hi,
Lets say i have a class named 'MyClass'. This class contains a field, 'Key', that behaves like a PK for all of the class instances, means that only one instance can have the value X for this 'Key' field.
Now i need to serialize this class and transfer it, but if the other side already has a 'MyClass' instance with the same 'Key' value i get two instances contains the same 'Key' field value... Problem.
ideas?
thanks

Hi,
two ways to solve this:
1.
you allow identical keys on different machines; then you have to decide what must happen when a key clash occurs (e.g. local one wins; incoming one wins; both instances get merged somehow; ...) That becomes a functional spec.
2.
you do not allow identical keys on different machines. Make your key generator such that it cannot happen. simple example: give each machine a range of non-overlapping available keys. For up to 16 machines: assign a number N in [0,F] to each machine, and make sure each key (looking at it in hex) ends on the machine number N (so 16*sequentialNumber+N).
|
|
|
|
|
The key is intentionally the same, so the second idea is out.
The first idea seem to be good but i feel i miss a much easier solution like changing the deserialization behavior...
Is there is a way to cause the deserialization process to return an existing instance instead of creating a new one?
thanks.
