instead of maintaining some values in a column and hiding it you can use datakeys.

if the column is a bound field and it's visibility is turn off, it cannot be retrieved as the value isn't rendered in that case. Either use template field or use datakeys, it depends how you're using it.

I have a dynamically databound gridview on my Page.
I have some data being entered into a textbox for every value being selected in a dropdown.
Everytime TEXTBOX value is entered, It should be reflected in one of the gridview column and should be editable.All the other colums should be non editable.
Can You please let me know how this can be achieved?

Hi!
I am not sure where should I post this topic. I just need an idea about my task below
a central server polls from a legacy server for media updates. the media file has incremental file name i.e 1.mpeg, 2.mpeg and so forth. central server needs to poll the legacy server and check for update via ftp. once it finds update it needs to copy the files and bring into central server from legacy server and distribute to its 600 clients. each client plays those mpegs constantly and central server needs to update the content in clients playlist automatically. for example clients current playlist could be
1.mpeg
2.mpeg and so forth. how do i keep adding the updated file to the play list and keep deleting if the files are more than 20 i.e.
play 1-20 and as soon as it hits 21 delete old files
please help i dont know how to acheive this and which what program.

my application is, shutdown remote system using process.start("shutdown",-s,-f \\machinename);
it works fine from visual studio.
but when i install this application in iis server and run, it will displays error
shutdown.exe - application error
application failed to initialized properly.
do i need to set any permissions to run shutdown.exe from remote machines

Hi,
apps in IIS are running under a different account (ASPNET for IIS5, NETWORKSERVICE for above). You could impersonate your process.start with using the properties username and password.

add GridView to your page. add TemplateField to the GridView and add hyperlink control to the item template

through window service u can do it. But will not be web application.
because to open the pop up the application should be in running state.
and we can not ensure a web application is in running state.
for this u can put the timer in your application.
pick the time from database.
then calculate the time span with system Time.
and Initialize the timer Tick property.
start the timer.
and pop up the window on Timer_tick Event.

I have a text box and a set of checkboxes in my form. The textbox is dynamically created.
There is a postback event on the textbox as OnTextChangedEvent and I am checking for a condition in the database with the text entered in textbox.
The issue is whenever the OnTextChangedEvent fires and if the user checks any of the checkboxes, the checkbox is getting cleared. Obviously, this is the nature of web application.
I want to know, whether there is any way to preserve the checked state of checkbox even after postback. I couldn't use the updatepanel because it is dynamically created textbox. I'm just using a placeholder for that. I don't want to place a button next to that. Because then, I need to track whether the user has to click the button etc.
Is there anyway to put the code only in textchange event and keep the changes in other controls without using the update panel?
