So your application is a console application? Why are you unable to write to the Console, the only thing I fear is that you are creating a windows forms application and you are still trying to write to the console.

Yes, the first answer (Computafreak's) is correct, Response.Write(ex.Message); if your writing an ASP.NET Web Application. But, looking at your code, I suspect you are writing a Windows Application due to your reference to Console.WriteLine(). This is a stretch, you want to send a Windows Application generated error message to a web browser window? Who's browser - yours, or a user of the application? At what URL?
I think you may want to CLARIFY your question with some more details on the type of application you are writing.

File.Create returns an open stream to the file created, locking it.

Are you writing to a directory which is read only?

If you really mean Logic Bomb[^] then no one here is going to help you.
If you just want a standalone exe, then yes you can. If the required .net framework is installed on the target machine and the app has no external dependancies, the exe will run fine. If it's for a machine without the .net framework then take a trip to c++ land.

He was active recently (16th[^]) but in the C++ forum. He's probably finally figured out that he can't really write nasty stuff successfuly using a .NET language. I think C++ will be above his intellectual abilities though so the world will remain safe.

It is possible to write windows services in .net.
It does not run itself though, you have to set up windows to startup the service for you and it is not called a logic bomb.
There is a guide on MSDN here[^] on how to create services.

Plus that is pretty non-standard - Enter works the default key, normally OK. Why not use TAB like almost every other windows app since V2.0?

I agree with first two answers. Does it have to be the Enter key? Using the Tab key with TabIndex to indicate a specific indexing of controls is easier and more standard. Enter will cause a Submit on the form?

Just got MSDN license and got c# hello world working in console mode. Now I want to load sample code but looks like a solution and I get message "one or more projects can not be located..."

Did you install the Microsoft Office PIA (Primary Interop Assemblys?) Are you referencing them in your project correctly? Can we see some code? We cannot guess based off your solution name.
