After reading the post below I noticed that when a message has been removed, the subject of the message is still readable in the permalink, the header of IE / chrome / FF and also on the members profile (messages posted).
Perhaps turn that into a non permalink (just a number or so then) since it is possible that the subject contains content not for display.

Tom,
In User Profile - Messages Posted, I see the friendly URL with the content for the specific illustration. However, when it shows as 'Message Automatically Removed', I believe, it has already defaulted to the fid and messageid.

I think you might misunderstood me (or something weird is going on )
Under the messages posted I see the message subject title (in the one you pointed out I see 'ilove u [^]') so the subject is still readable (and could potentially contain content that shouldn't be displayed, there is a reason the message got removed so ...)
Same for the permalink and the window header.
(I'm using chrome but don't think that matters)

Abusive messages will have their permalink removed from the forums, and I've made a change (upload soon) that will remove their title from the window

I ordered a Code signing certificate through your site last week. I had a bit of an issue, My private key was lost when i installed W7 RC and I need to get a new certificate issued, how do i do that? Comodo told me to ask you. What do I do to get this fixed? They said that your Certificate is the intermediate Authority and I need that to proceed, but I don't see why that is, the new request process should take care of that right?

Turns out you can get a re-issue from comodo directly if you put a tick in online. I am going through the process now. Though it turns out different support folks gave me different answers? I think it was just a misunderstanding.

Excellent. Could you please email me at chris -at- codeproject.com once everything is sorted out so we can follow up with Comodo ourselves and make sure everything went OK.

Hi Chris,
If I go to the back room via a direct link to a message (ie: by clicking on one of the messages in my message list under my profile) I am then unable to use the navigation buttons to move around the forum. clicking them simply puts me at the top of the screen. (Similar to the post below, but not identical, hence a new post).
D.

edit:
Since posting this message, I am now unable to navigate this forum either...

I'm running into the same problem.
Testing shows that if I go directly to the first page without specifying a message, then the page navigation works. However, once I open a message to read it, navigation off of that page (first page or third, it doesn't matter) fails.

This is related to the issue Chris Meech reported. I'm on it - thanks for the heads up.

Specifically this message[^]: isn't appearing in last visit/last change filters, but is in the last month filter. The last week filter does show it but in a broken threading mess.
This might be the same issue I reported in this thread[^] but only if the message was hiding from the last month view (my default) as well.
This is all happening on web16.
Edit: Naturally after I reply I start getting different web servers, the same happened on web12/17.
Edit2: as I side note I discovered it hiding this time while looking for my old thread so that I could reply to that (via email).

If the message is older than your last visit (meaning it doesn't have a 'new' icon next to it) but is newer than a month then this is the correct behaviour.
That message, at the moment, is about 22hrs old so if you've visited the site in the last 22hrs then it won't appear.

At the time I posted this the message was IIRC <20m old and *did* have a new icon next to it. Unless I'm mistaken at the time it didn't show up in the last day filter either, although it is now. If the latter happens again would an html save be helpful?

It did have a new icon but didn't show up? The plot thickens.
Next time it happens could you please send me:
1. The permalink of the missing message
2. The Last Visit and Last Update times that are displayed at the bottom of forum message list
3. Your local time.

Will do. This isn't common, since I first noticed it a few weeks ago, I've been checking every time the new message wasn't visible on the first page, and only seen one additional instance.

I am intermittently unable to open messages in the Coding forums (C#, VB and Windows Forms, so far).
When I click on the post all that happens is that it scrolls to the top of the page, any message already open, remains open.
I have refreshed as well as closed and re-opened browser (FF 3.0.10).
Works fine in The Lounge though.
[Edit]
I have tied it down to happening only after I make a reply. Whatever post I click on, my last reply stays open.
Including this forum as well, after editing this post.
Tried a reply in The Lounge, all works as expected.

When it next happens could you please try clicking on a permalink on a message, then confirm it's happening, then save the Source of the page to a file and email that, along with the permalink, to me at chris -at- codeproject.com?
