Hi, mybe you've a wrong post. this thread only for asp.net
if want a mdi form to your application, click your form then in property box theres a mdi/container set to true.

I have a button, on the click of which the whole page is getting refreshed. I am using it only to make a div display as 'block' or 'none'. Is there any other way than using AJAX to stop refreshing the whole page?

Then why are you using server side button. or why are you doing it in server side. Do the job in Client Side. You can easily do it using javascript only.

I am taking a snapshot of a computer and storing it on a web server i.e. it has URL
In the ASP.net/Ajax web page i added a updated panel, timer, and image field. in every 3 seconds i want my image to be refreshed based on the new screen shot i took.
That doesn't work since the response is always getting me the image from the hard disc (temp folder). Here is a list of what i tried and also didn't work
1. Cache control
2. expiring
3. drawing image on asp.net (couldn't find it). I was trying to generate the image dynamically by drawing it every 3 seconds.
4. adding a query for example "http://0.0.0.0/bla.jpg?p="+new date;
5. the meta refresh tag
for 4 and 5 i get continues flickering and my temp folder size increase and i don't want that
If you can help solve this problem you really will help all of the people facing this problem because i searched a lot and couldn't do it.

Change the URL to the image every time ( that's what the AJAX should do ), so that IE has to load a new image, not reload an old one.

This would work but if every image is 200kb and on every request it stores a copy on hard disc then the hard disc would run out of space. from my toying around with it if in my event code changes the image to another image on the server that works fine however, same image is really a pain. I tried several cache cleaning methods i found on Google but they don't seem to solve the problem.

Yeah, you obviously need to delete your old image when the new image is requested, or have enough HDD space to store them all.

I use VS2005 (ASP.NET 2) & SQL Server 2005
In a Gridview i have a column that is a foreign key & it's data type is TinyInt. I want to show another data field that is related with master table, like a ComboBox that has 3 parameters (DisplayMember , ValueMember & SelectedValue), but there isn't any SelectedValue paramete in my Gridview !
How can i do that ?

You have to find the combo box in the row that is selected and then get it's selected value. The combo box, not the grid view row, contains the value.

Hi,
I have two tables LaptopBrandsTable and LaptopModels table. In my asp.net page, i have a searchtxtbox.
I want to generate a page , that shows all models for a particular brand in a page, which when clicked shows details for the laptop. I might have 100s of laptop under one brand so if the entries become more than 35, i want to start another column in the page. Which asp.net control would help me do this, and how would i make the models appear as links..
eg when searched for acer, i want to show
acer aspire 1 acer aspire 36 acer aspire 71
acer aspire 2 acer aspire 37
.......... ........
acer aspire 35 acer aspire 70

Use a repeater to generate your links, and then just form URLs that pass an id to your final page to read the details from the DB

Did you google the error ? Work out what page is causing the error ? Is it just one page ? Do you know what line of code does it ?

NEVER use the designer, it is CRAP. Write CSS, use tables or just use br tags to space stuff out on your page.

You've asked this a few times now. Is it homework or paid work that you're taking on, but have nothing close to the skills needed to do ? If it's homework, talk to your teacher. If it's paid work, tell the client you are a fraud. If you really want to do this, just read all the answers you got last time, and if you post again, post something like 'I was told to do xx, here is my code, and here is where I am still stuck'. The alternative, is to decide that programming is beyond you and to do something else with your time.
