Error message is clear, isn't it? Your type(class or struct) SMSCOMMS has two methods named SendSMS with same parameter types, which is not allowed.
Looks like you need a good book.

SMSCOMMS as the class name,, but SendSMS are derived the public bool in the coding
public bool SendSMS(string CellNumber, string SMSMessage)
{
string MyMessage = null;
//Check if Message Length <= 160
if (SMSMessage.Length <= 160)
MyMessage = SMSMessage;
else
MyMessage = SMSMessage.Substring(0, 160);
if (IsOpen == true)
{
SMSPort.WriteLine("AT+CMGS=" + CellNumber + "r");
_ContSMS = false;
SMSPort.WriteLine(
MyMessage + System.Environment.NewLine + (char)(26));
_Continue = false;
if (Sending != null)
Sending(false);
}
return false;
}
and derivd again same public bool SendSMS
public bool SendSMS(string CellNumber, string SMSMessage)
{
string MyMessage = null;
if (SMSMessage.Length <= 160)
{
MyMessage = SMSMessage;
}
else
{
MyMessage = SMSMessage.Substring(0, 160);
}
if (IsOpen == true)
{
SMSPort.WriteLine("AT+CMGS=" + CellNumber + "r");
_ContSMS = false;
SMSPort.WriteLine(
MyMessage + System.Environment.NewLine + (char)(26));
_Continue = false;
if (Sending != null)
Sending(false);
}
return false;
}
so error show
Error 1 Type 'SMSCOMMS' already defines a member called 'SendSMS' with the same parameter types..

You are a retard. Turn off the computer, step away from it before you hurt yourself or somebody else. If you're a student, you need to talk to your teacher. If you're self taught, you're probably not up for it and should find a class. If this is paid work, you are an absolute disgrace, and a thief. Anyone who employs you is either being lied to ( if you take work through rentacoder ) or is themselves incompetent ( if you work in an office ). What you know about C# is not enough to get through the first lesson, let alone to be doing paid work.
nagu4u wrote: Error 1 Type 'SMSCOMMS' already defines a member called 'SendSMS' with the same parameter types..
Yes, it does. As you showed us. And, what's amazing, is that you are both too stupid to understand the message, too stupid to read the code, and too stupid to notice that not only do you have two methods with the same signature, but they do the SAME THING.

Very poor .A quick question : Don't you have any colleagues,Team Leads around? Why not you show your "problem" to them first before spamming the forums? Or it's your lead that asked you to post it here? that's something to worry about.

Hi,
I am relatively new to asp.net but not c# and sql/ssce. I have a working web project that presents the user with a datagrid bound to the following data:
<pre><asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:mycourtsConnectionString2 %>" ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:mycourtsConnectionString2.ProviderName %>" SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [WebBookingsOnline]"></asp:SqlDataSource></pre>
The relative web.config excerpt is:
<pre><add name="mycourtsConnectionString2" connectionString="Data Source=|DataDirectory|\mycourts.sdf;SSCE:Temp File Directory = 'Temp'" providerName="Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client.3.5" /></pre>
Works great.
Now I am trying to add a second page that also presents a datagrid bound as follows:
<pre><asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server"
ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionStringAccounting %>"
ProviderName="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ConnectionStringAccounting.ProviderName %>"
SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [Transactions]"></asp:SqlDataSource></pre>
The appropriate web.config excerpt:
<pre><add name="ConnectionStringAccounting" connectionString="Data Source=|DataDirectory|\mcaccounting.sdf;Password=xxxxxx"
providerName="Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client.3.5" /></pre>
When loading the second page I get the following error:
Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.ArgumentException: Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed.
Now the only difference that I can see is the differing database file and the fact that it is password protected. I can't understand the error message because it should (I would have thought) applied to the first datagrid as well as the Data Providers are both the same!
The error stack trace, written in swahilli as far as I can tell reads:
[ArgumentException: Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed.]

I have 4 websites that are all very similar and I was thinking of merging them all into a single dot-com domain with one site being the primary site and the remaining 3 contained within separate subdomains. Sort of like how the video game website ign.com, has xbox360.ign.com, ps3.ign.com, wii.ign.com, etc.
I have two questions though:
One, are there disadvantages to merging 4 sites into a bunch of subdomains like ign.com has? Will this hurt my search engine ranking at all? Would search engines value my content more highly as separate sites?
And two (and more importantly), if I do merge all these sites into a bunch of subdomains, how should I go about setting up my asp.net application? Should I create 4 separate solutions, or is this one giant solution with separate directories?
Thanks

Goalie35 wrote: One, are there disadvantages to merging 4 sites into a bunch of subdomains like ign.com has?
They are still four sites. You have just arranged them under different host names that happen to share a common parent domain.
Goalie35 wrote: Will this hurt my search engine ranking at all?
Yes. Search Engines know where your site currently is. In order to maintain your current ranking you will have to set up permanent redirects from your old site to the equivalent page in your new site. Otherwise the search engines won't count any of the numerous broken links that will appear when you make the move.
Goalie35 wrote: Would search engines value my content more highly as separate sites?
You will still have separate sites. You are not actually merging them in to one site. Just merging them under a common parent domain.

OK, my problem is...
I dont know how to hide a <div> when a dropdownlist change the index
I thought I can use javascript to solve this problem, but somehow... i dont know how to use it.
Here the code
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head><title>TESTING</title></head>
<script runat="server" language="C#">
void Page_Load(Object s, EventArgs e){
}
protected void DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e){
}
</script>
<body>
<div id="div1"></div>
<div id="div2"></div>
<form id="Form1" action="TEST.aspx" runat="server">
<asp:dropdownlist id="DropDownList1" runat="server" onselectedindexchanged="DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged" >
<asp:listitem>Choose div to be hide
<asp:listitem>Hide div1</asp:ListItem>
<asp:listitem>Hide div2</asp:ListItem>
</asp:DropDownList>
</form>
</body>
</html>
When the user change the drop down into "Hide div2", the <div> with id div2 will hide which is style="DISPLAY: none"
How to use this thing like javascript where the page will not be refresh or postback<<
If i do like this
Inside the body tag:
<div id="div1" runat="server"></div>
Inside the script tag using c#:
protected void DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e){
div1.Visible = false;
}
this way, it need to refresh the page. I want it to hide without hiding the page

Does your div successfully disapear and you're just trying to eliminate the postback? You could use ajax to eliminate the postback refresh.
Something like the following:
<asp:ScriptManager id="ScriptManager1" runat="server" />
<asp:UpdatePanel id="updatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional">
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="DrowDownList1" />
</Triggers>
<ContentTemplate>
<div id="div1"></div>
<div id="div2"></div>
</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
<form...>
<asp:DropDownList...>
</form>
Hope that helps.

Emm.. Im trying to hide the div without postback. Something like javascipt i guess
and im using .NET 2.0
I think there is no ajax rite?
|
|
|
|

No, you are wrong . Ajax is already there for asp.net 2.0 only you have to install it.
see www.ajax.asp.net

U can get the value of dropdownlist in Javascript using its clientID
with that u can pass display properties of div.

I have a project that I got from some developer that I am trying to debug.
Everything works expect that I need to step throught the working code of .ashx file.
Visua Studio 2008 debugger does not stop on breakpoint anywhere in this file.
I tried setting this file as a default start page.
Does not stop in this case either.
Any tricks to that? Any help? Thank you.

I am not sure ( as I don't have VS 2008 yet), but I have done it in VS2005. See if this[^] helps

OK so this turnes out to be some sort of glitch in debugger.
MyPage.ashx?blahblahblah=blahblahblah&/&14 does enter debugger.
MyPage.ashx?blahblahblah=blahblahblah&/& does not enter debugger.
Or some variation of it.
I can not give exact line but simce any slight variation of it work I'd say it is a glitch.
Thank you for help.

In your second example the you have & which is query string delimiter. May be it that is the issue?

If I upgrade a VS2005 website, or just view a VS2005 in 2008 without converting, code-behind pages reflect page/controls so that I can use the pull-down to select a page or control and then the declarations pull-down reflects the appropriate events for the selection on the left pull-down.
I created a new VS2008 website in verison 3.5 for Ajax. How do I get the page and other controls to appear in the VS2008 code behind interface?
Thanks, jb

First, you don't access a database with ASP.NET. ASP.NET is for creating web applications. ADO.NET is the part of .NET that is concerned with databases.
smady18 wrote: how can fetch record ... from database in random order
To return rows from a database in random order use something like ORDER BY NEWID() (assuming you are using SQL Server)
smady18 wrote: if i am select on option, how it can compare wuth correct option.
Presumably you know which is the correct option already. Check that the ID for the radio button group being returned matches the ID of the correct answer. (Of course, this assumes much about how you have designed your database)
smady18 wrote: on my email id...
No. If you want an answer it stays on the forum. That way everyone benefits.
