The last thing you want it an MFC book written by Petzold. I learned how to program windows from the guy's books, but his books on MFC and C# stunk. My two specific complaints are that he has complete disdain for the Visual Studio tools and his examples are very contrived and hard to translate to the real world.

I have used IConverterSession Interface. I declared in my project.
I also defined these two GUIDs CLSID_IConverterSession and IID_IConverterSession.
when i compile, it shows following errors.
error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _CLSID_IConverterSession
error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _IID_IConverterSession
fatal error LNK1120: 2 unresolved externals
I dont know how to resolve this.

As far as i know,This is because you project short of some dll file or dib file,you may find the msdn to find it yourself,it will be easy,good luck.

The errors come because of I have used DEFINE_GUID
Now the problem with DEFINE_GUID is that we have to include INITGUID.h
otherwise compliler takes GUIDs as they are defined same where else so it comes with external unresolved error.

some time during debuging of project or abnormal termination of application some cpp and project files goes corrupted so is there some solution to recover them (any software) or feature of Microsoftvc++6.0 so that files can be repaired

This has happened to me when the computer is powered off during compilation in VC++ 6.0.
So you either back up your code often or use a source control system.\
Or you can write code again.

You won't be able to restore your corrupted files with a source control system. That's something you have to do before (like a backup). For the future, I suggest tortoise SVN[^]

Ok. This is what I did and it worked.
BUT..... As a disclaimer; I'm not responsible for any loss or corruption of data.
You can take it or leave it.
Open .sln file in notepad.
Change 10.00 on the first line to 9.00
Change Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2005.
Save and close the file.
Open .vcproj file or files in notepad.
Change Version="9.00" on line 4 to Version="8.00"
Save and close the files.
I'm not sure in what conditions, this is going to fail, but like I said it always worked for me.
Now you can write a tool to do this convertion.
