Sessions DO NOT end when a user closes their browser. There is no communication with the server when a browser is closed so there is no way the server can know to end the session. The same is true when you leave the site for another. Again no communication takes place between your browser and the site you're leaving so the server never knows you've left.
Basically the only solution I know of is to set up a client-side event to call a server-side script to abandon the session when the user leaves.
Anyone knows how to write a javascript to end a session when the browser is being closed?
Any help will be appreciated!

You fire off an AJAX message on the event that fires when the form closes. Then you accept that even this is not foolproof, so you still write timeout code rather than assume the user stays logged in until that message arrives.

install the service in your system. start the service.
Click the "Tools" tab in Microsoft Visual Studio project.
Click "Attach To Process" option. it will be show a list of services running in your system.
Locate your service name and double click it. It will attach debugger to your service. Now when your service will run you will be able to debug it in your VS.Net project.

Hi,
I hav a grid view control which fires an event,that link button has been kept in a update panel.
The action in link is to add a record to a user control which is in the master page.
The adding action is executed properly but the control doesnt get refreshed since its in the master page.I used triggers to call the load of that user control but it isnt get refreshed.
Also enabled partial rendenting for the scriptmaneger
<asp:updatepanel id="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" xmlns:asp="#unknown">
<contenttemplate>
<triggers> <asp:asyncpostbacktrigger controlid="ucCTray" eventname="Load">
<triggers>
ucCTray is the user control in master page which is made visible false initially,but has to be made true when records r present. which is wht the link action is all about.
Please help with any solution or clue

Hello,
I want to know how to build web pages on fly.
like example:
If we go to adding articles in codeproject.com. If we add a new article name as "my first article" then they are creating a page myfirstarticle.aspx in the one of the categories.
Code Project Implementation Explanation:
Basename is the name you want to give your article's file (without the .aspx extension). For instance, if your basename is coolcode then your article file will be coolcode.aspx, and all files associated with your article (Zips, images) will be in the coolcode/ directory. If you pick a basename that has already been used then you will be prompted for a new one. Illegal characters and spaces in the basename will be replaced by underscores
How can we build this type mechanism pages.
Can anybody help me on this?
Thanks,
Ashok Nalam

how to play .flv, .fla , .swf file using player in asp.net?

ASP.NET does not support these formats. You just embedd or emit the HTML to play them, the same HTML you'd find if you googled for it.

Take a look at this page. However, Flash can generate the HTML code to embed the object for you when you export your movie.

I inherited a project that was configured to run a file based Web Site using the ASP.NET Development Web Server. I want to switch this over to run using IIS. I have been looking through the project options but I cannot find how to go about switching this without creating a whole new project. Am I missing something?

Right click Website->Properties->Web->Select Use IIS Web Server Radio button and provide the URL.

I don't have that option... is this only in VS2008.

It was for VS2005 but you should be able to find that setting somewhere in Project Properties page.
