And this has what to do with VB.NET??

I have a Collections.Generic.List object which contains two fields:
Reference Amount<br />
--------- ------<br />
101223 100.00<br />
125567 200.00<br />
101223 110.00<br />
134225 300.50<br />
125567 116.00
I want to group these into another list to give
Reference Amount<br />
--------- ------<br />
101223 210.00<br />
125567 316.00<br />
134225 300.50
How can I do this please?

Well, with the object model you've chosen, you have little choice but to go through each item in your collection and generate a second collection with the totals. The basic idea is to see if a Reference number is in a collection, and if not, add it with the current Amount. If it already exists in the collection, you get the existing total from that collection, add the Amount to it, then put the new total back in the collection. You'd probably use a HashTable, or some other Key/Value pair collection, to store the totals.

Never done this but I feel you will need to write code for this using Interop.
The word "politics" describes the process so well: "Poli" in Latin meaning "many" and "tics" meaning "bloodsucking creatures."

You will have to go through each cell in your datagrid and set the colors in the Excel sheet yourself. Warning! This will be a slow process! You cannot do this through a CSV file, so if that's the method you're using, it won't work.

I don't know the Excel object model off the top of my head, but I think you might be looking for a FillColor, or BackColor, or maybe a ColorIndex property. I seem to remember something about an Interior property that this may fall under.
Oh, wait. A quick Google for "vb excel cell background color" reveals a plethora of information[^].

I use this code. It copies the grid into excel as you see it in the vb app color and all formatting.
Response.Clear()
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=FileName.xls")
Response.Charset = ""
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.xls"
Dim stringWrite As New System.IO.StringWriter()
Dim htmlWrite As New HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite)
GridView1.RenderControl(htmlWrite)
Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString)
Response.End()

If you put the code I have provided behind a button on the form, and change the GridView1.RenderControl(htmlWrite) to the name of your grid, it does exactly what you want.
Protected Sub Button69_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button69.Click
Response.Clear()
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=FileName.xls")
Response.Charset = ""
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache)
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.xls"
Dim stringWrite As New System.IO.StringWriter()
Dim htmlWrite As New HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite)
GridView1.RenderControl(htmlWrite)
Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString)
Response.End()
End Sub

You mean, you have a variable FileName, and this variable contain one value like
FileName = "Somthing"
and you want to add the content of FileName which is 1 word to list view?
Me.ListView1.ListItems.Add , , FileName
Try to get a book or Press F1 or Search google.

I'm pretty new to coding to the Win32 API, so this may be a newbie question:
I've got an application writen in VB6 that opens a PDF document in Adobe Acrobat Reader with the /p switch, so that it shows the print dialog window. When the user clicks "ok", I want the document to print and Acrobat Reader to close.
I open Acrobat Reader using the Shell command, and I close it by sending WM_CLOSE messages to the process (following examples I found online).
This all worked fine when I was using Acrobat Reader version 7, but I recently upgraded to version 9, and now I'm finding that the task manager shows AcroRd32 running even after all the windows have closed. This is a problem, since if the user tries to print a second document, a new window doesn't open and no print dialog window appears.
I can get the process id, and I've tried using TerminateProcess to end it, using code:
lngResult = TerminateProcess(lngProcessId, 0&)
This returns a zero, which I understand means that an error has occurred, but GetLastError also returns a zero, which seems to mean no error was trapped.
Can anyone help me understand what's going on, or what I'm missing here? Thanks very much for your help!
