hello,
i'm stuck in a problem with IShellView. here's my story :
i've implemented an IShellBrowser to make a file explorer holding to the windows one. problem : the THUMBNAILS display (only in windows 2000 and later).
when i switch to THUMBNAILS display, all is right, except when i change to another directory : the THUMBNAILS display isn't kept. nevertheless, i've been careful in saving the FOLDERSETTINGS of IShellView, and moreover, thanks to it, the "large icons" display, the "small icons", the "list" and the "details" ones are well and truly restored when i visit another directory. only the THUMBNAILS display is lost when the directory is changed.
why ? how to keep the THUMBNAILS display ? where is this parameter stocked if it isn't in FOLDERSETTINGS ?

Hi there !!
I am currently working on my term project  . I need to implement MSN Messenger type Alert (which appears when a user signs in ) in MFC. If any one could tell me how to implement that or give any references or any example code etc. i would be obliged.;)

There's no GUI Builder in VS C++.net, and that's a real damn shame!, you need to build/write everything from scratch!
As I found out, one of the best way to learn how to build GUI with .net is with the "Visual C++.net Step by Step" by Julian Templeman and Andy Olsen, on microsoft press. There are a couple of chapters on GUI building with .net.
Also, look around here, on codeproject, ManagedC++[^] there's a section on Windows Form, which is the GUI Toolkit of .net.

I would also say that a Windows Forms designer for C++ is slated for inclusion in Everett, I'm still awaiting my discs to see whether this is the case

Everett? sorry im not familiar.. ive been doing some work with c++ and the .net forms and the book i have suggests using C# and then porting the code over.. i think that is completely stupid.. what is this Everett, and does anyone know if MS is really trying to keep c++ from using the new .net forms?

I've finally had time to finish off my second validation control (CP article coming soon  . However, I cannot get these damned properties to work!
__property String* get_LocalServer() { return m_sLocalServer; }
__property void set_LocalServer(String* value) { m_sLocalServer = value; }
The above properties are included in the public section, and the member variable is declared as private.
However, nothing is ever set, the m_sLocalServer member variable is never filled with anything.
If I move m_sLocalServer to be public, then I can set its value correctly from the ASP.NET page via. the validation control's properties as expected.
I don't suppose anyone has any suggestions as to why this might be?

how to get window hwnd if have its process id ?
how to get total no of windows that a process created ?
and how to get its active window?
if i want to get wheather a process is performing processing or not what to do?

If you need to see if a process is doing work, use the Task Manager and find it.
If you have the process ID, you can probably get the Thread ID of the process' main thread.
Use GetGUIThreadInfo using that thread ID to retrieve the information. The GUITHREADINFO structure filled by the function will contain the HANDLE of the active window. From there, you can ennumerate the Child Windows.

Must be something I installed recently, but this stinking VS.NET C++ IDE is junk ... can't debug ... process is started, but it's dead in the water ...
There's an old post about this in the IDE forum, but no answer yet, anyone have this problem ?
I can run it, but not debug !
