Not really web dev question, but this seems like the closest forum. Anyway, has anyone used custom column bound to a BDC? I've created a custom column and pointed it to the data catalog application, no problem. However, when refreshing the list it give a warning that it could take a while to refresh, then always says there are no items. I can create a Business Data List that displays all the data so I know the BDC is configured correctly.

software when we can buy it from market?
what are the benefits if we develop our own software and what are the disadvantages.
furthermore should we make our own templates to send email or should buy.
if we make our own templates then why?

Hi All!
I've noticed that HTAs (HyperText Applications) most commonly have to rely on the <IMG SRC="SomeImage.png"> method of adding images to the document, and unless you're prepared to do the incredibly slow '1px Table Cells' method of embedding images directly into the HTML, or you're prepared to encode every image to a base64 string (which hangs IE anyway for large image files), the HTA has to rely on files saved at seperate locations. Does anybody have any ideas how I could compile these resources into a DLL or something in order to access them from within my HTA's HTML or JavaScript? I've seen a few forum messages elsewhere about this but none really seem to provide any detail.

I have an ASP gridview with a dropdownlist box as an embeded cell's control. Now, when a row of the gridview is selected I use the following javascript to highlite the backcolor of each control that row's cells contain, and the dropdownlist box's backcolor:

Now, when I select the row all works fine as far as the control's backcolor being set using the css. The problem is that once the dropdownlist box has the css background style set when I select the down arrow of the dropdownlist box the list does not remain open it automatically pops back up. Does anyone have any idea why this is.
Note: If you double click on the dropdownlist box then the dropdown list remains open.

After further testing it appears that, for dropdownlist boxes, setting the className twice in a row like is done in the code above causes this trouble. If I comment out the first for loop where the 'DefaultBackGroundColor' is being set then the dropdownlist box works as expected. I hope this information is helpful. Anyway, I am still unable to solve my problem.

The answer was creating a javascript flag for the highlited row and insuring that when the dropdownlist box was selected and it was a control of the current highlited row that the cssClass was not being applied to the dropdownlist box again.

Upload your ico ... do a chmod +rx to the file icon(it needs "execute" to be displayed).
If you still have problems add to httpd.config or .htaccess

hey all,
Don't know whether this is possible or not so thought I'd put it out there as I can't seem to find an answer through google...
I need to create an online advent calendar, this is easy enough in itself, I'm filling up a Datalist in a grid, enough said..... Except...
The MD of the company (not a technical person) wants the layout to be less grid like.
She wants it to flow more, for example, top row would contain 3 windows, next would be 4, then 3, then 4 etc.
Can this be done in one datalist? The cells would need to be staggered (like brickwork). I thought about using flow mode but it always ends up as a grid at the moment.
Do I need to use multiple datalists/repeaters (1 per row)?
I'm happy to have it as a grid, but then I also want to deliver the best I can.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, even if its just pointers in a vaguely right direction.

Oh you'll have fun with that! I suggest the approach to take may be to keep flow layout and capture the ItemDataBound event, inserting
tags after every third (on odd rows) or every fourth (on even rows) item... probably need a couple of static counters to track row and item counts... then centre the whole thing in a div... be a bit tricky, but should be possible...

Thought it might be something like that, was just hoping  for something a bit more simple I suppose.
The annoying thing is that there's no RowDataBound Event for a datalist or repeater. How hard would it be to create a custome Datalist control with a rowdatabound event? that way I could change the number of columns based on alternating rows? (at least, that's how it looks in my head, I'm sure it would probably never work like that...)

As time is tight then I guess they'll just get what I can fit in.

Of course, being an Advent Calendar, I presume the numbner of items is fixed.... in which case you could just use a sort of brute force approach and dispense with teh datalist altogether and just bind your data directly to 25 (or whatever) labels (oe whatever)... at least then you could have total control over the layout... or, as you suggested, separate datalists for each row. Bit inelegant, but as longa sit woreks. Your real problems only arise if the number of items isn't fixed...

Well maybe I will, but first... How do you create Custom Server Controls
Unless of course someone has pitty after reading this and decides that they could do a better job than I ever could and writes an article in time for me to use it by christmas!
Will probably go down the brute force route as time is short and my list of work is long.
