Hi everyone!
I am experimenting with a rich text editor by using the contentEditable feature of HTML. I have the basic editor working, but I have run into a serious issue in FireFox. When you hit the return key, a second element of the same type is created...which is good. BUT If the element which was being typed in had an ID attribute, that ID gets duplicated into the new element. In fact, all attributes get duplicated into the new element.
Does anybody know how I can disable this default behavior? Or at least with regards to custom attributes?
If only there were some way to manually determine how elements are created...

I have a working C# program. It's a gui that lets me access my parallel port. I would like to be able to convert it into a web page now. I've tried the copy past and start debugging approach. I think it's over my head.
I would like to know where to go or who to contact to have a pro work on it. I am willing to pay a programmer for a few hours of thier time. I will provide my working program and I can pay with paypal. Can someone please advise.

Hi All,
I have an ActiveX control hosted in a web page (<object> used). The problem is that when I scroll the page down or up the page is distorted by the control; seems a redraw issue in IE. Note that control is written in C++/ATL and uses double buffered OpenGL rendering. However, when I turn off double buffer feature from the control, the page is not getting distorted when it is being scrolled.
But I have to keep double buffering. So I think there should be some javascript magic to force the screen redraw (but not reload). So far I can handle window.scroll event, but I don't know which function will force the window to redraw itself.
If you could help I'd be very grateful.

Hi everyone,
I have some web services set up in IIS on Windows 2003 server. I am able to get to the test page by putting the servername in the URL but not if I use localhost. I have had the same problem with websites. Why would localhost not work? The ip address is listed correctly in the hosts file. The servers are always virtual machines (Virtual Server R2 or HyperV). Is there something different I have to do because it's a virtual machine?

I have a gridview that row's cells contain textboxes. Currently, I highlite the row, in yellow using javascript, by changing the backgroundColor of each of the rows cell's textboxes. To set the backgroundColor I use the .childNode[0].style.backgroundColor = 'Yellow', see code below:
gridViewCtl.rows[index].cells[i].childNodes[0].style.backgroundColor = 'Yellow';
Now, I have a set of css files defined and would like to use a color defined in my css. Does anyone know how this can be done?

Specify a class in the css, and use the className attribute in Javascript to set the class of the rows or the class of an element containing the rows.

I have been trying to add a javascript function to display information when there is a moveover a grid, and i want the message to disapear on its own after a (reasonably)short time, say a message that just say "use ctr + shift to select multi rows", but i cant seem to find this info, does anyone know how to do it or where to find info on how to do it.
