Hiya Smile | :) ,

Earlier today I found away that (some) programs can run before the user has logged in, it could easily be a virus that makes its self open at the login screen. Dead | X|

Open registry editor and go to HKEY_USERS - .DEFAULT - Control Panel - Desktop

From here it allows you to change default background image etc. etc.

But what I found was that in the string: SCRNSAVER.EXE it normally says "logon.scr" (default screensaver, Im running XP) but all you have to do is change its value to an exe file! I tried "cmd.exe" and that allowed me access to pretty much anywhere on my system Frown | :( It wouldnt be long before someone ran cmd.exe and as a parameter they could have the "format" command and erase that computer's drive Hmmm | :| Or if someone was really awkward they could set the ScreenSaverTimeout string to 1 second and have the "shutdown" command in the SCRNSAVER.EXE therfore shutting it down as soon as it is turned on.

I look at Microsoft, and turn to my poster on the wall saying: "Bang head here in case of stress".
