Hi,
I am currently using SCSF/CAB in my GUI plug-in-able application and I want to add it a sandbox feature. I have found that CLR-Addin framework gives me a perfect solution for isolation, but I didn't find any documentation on how to declare a type/service dynamically ( like in CAB )
This is from Glen Block Blog:
"One challenge around using MAF is in regards to how contracts are declared. MAF requires you to specifically expose everything you want to pass across the wire via a set of contracts (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb384205.aspx). This is different than the way we customarily access services in a non-MAF world, which is by simply injecting them in the constructor. There are other ways with MAF to expose types (services) without being as explicit, though there is not alot out there documenting this approach.

So my question is what are the ways with MAF to expose services without being explicit ?
Is there any adapter/contract which can pass object by reference?
Is there any documentation/example I can look into it ?

So - you know your highest level requirement. Now, you need to break this down into more detailed user requirements. May I recommend talking to users, and drawing up a set of use cases to cover the requirements, possibly moving on to some storyboards and detailed activity and sequence diagrams.
Or are you expecting us to give you the code.

If you are looking for someone to do it for you, I'd hate to break it, no one will. Also, if you are looking for someone to share the code of a stock exchange program they wrote, again, I'd hate to break it to you, no one will.
Best thing to do is to get your program requirements, start coding, then ask questions when you run into problems with your code. Pick a better subject line, too.

You're going to be using System.Net a lot. Browse the MSDN docs and you should find your way easily enough. Come back if you have more specific questions.

Currently I have a ToolStrip with a bunch of ToolStripButtons on it with AutoSize set to false and a fixed width. When the Text fills up that width, the icon is hidden in favor of showing more text.
Example: http://x.mzzt.net/2008.09.26.19.43.58.png
I want the buttons to look more like taskbar buttons, the icon should never be hidden.
I can't find a simple option to do that, am I missing something?
If not, I checked into what I would have to subclass to fix it, but it looks like it's more of toolstrip layout stuff rather than ToolStripRenderer. I suppose I could subclass ToolStripButton and hardcode the layout into OnPaint.
Recommendations?

Hi, My name is Saravanan Rao from Chennai, Tamil Nadu,India.I have an assignment through which I need to develop a project in .NET(VB or C# or VC++) involving serial port.The concept of the project is to measure the different voltage levels passed through serial port from an external device that changes voltage levels periodically or manually. Generally speaking, Is it possible to measure voltage levels passed at serial port using .NET or any other s/w components? I am waiting for your response.Thanks in advance

No, it's not. You'd have to have some piece of external hardware the does the measurement and transfers the values to the computer through one of the ports or, if the measurement hardware is on a board, one fo the expension slots. You'll, of course, also need a driver for this card.
For a cheaper solution, you may want to look here[^] for stuff that works with USB.

No, the serial port is for binary serial comunication, not measuring analogue voltages. Like Dave says, you'll need some hardware.
We've recently used a Labjack U3[^] device to monitor voltages. You might find it useful.

I am interested in learning more about .NET programming. I see, .NET as the modern approach for develping user interfaces. However, I am not a big fan of C#. Does it make sense to develop a modern interface in C++ using .NET? If so, could somebody recommend a book to me that teaches .NET to a C++ programmer.

I'm not sure how much sense it makes - only you can decide that.
I do know that Microsoft has positioned the C++/CLI language as
a tool for bridging existing native code to the .NET managed world.
Visual Studio designer support is limited for C++ as a result, which can
(and does IME) make C++/CLI a less productive option.
You may not like C# now, but when you write C++/CLI code it's nearly identical
to C#. Throw in better IDE support and C# soon makes more sense for managed
code development.
You can use C++/CLI as your .NET language of choice....just remember that Visual Studio
probably isn't going to give you much more than its existing support for it
in the future.
I'm a die hard C++ programmer and I resisted the C# thing, but once I went managed/.NET,
C# just makes the most sense for a C++ programmer.
I've personally dropped all my MFC code completely, but I still maintain a large base of
native C++ code mixed in with managed code. I get all the benefits of the rich .NET framework
along with the familiar native C++ code. C++/CLI bridges the two nicely as it is intended to do.
All my UI is done in C# these days.

Jesse Liberty's Programming C# is a good book for those coming from C++. However, be careful to get the right edition for your version of Visual Studio.
Programming C# 4th Ed is VS 2005 .NET 2.0
Programming C# 3.0 5th Ed is VS 2008 .NET 3.5

I am using The Windows Forms WebBrowser control in C#. I want to resynchronize or disable browser cache by customizing webBrowser. Needs to set the following flags: DLCTL_RESYNCHRONIZE or DLCTL_PRAGMA_NO_CACHE.
The reference says that I need to implement IDispatch (referenced at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa770041.aspx)
I am not sure what interface of webBrowser control I need to use? Please send me if you have any info.
