Weird error when I try to create a user through Web Site Administration Tool

I just started a new contract and the tech lead told me that he wanted me to become familiar with something called "JROC" (among some other tools).

I've been searching the web and I haven't found any dev tool called "JROC."

Based on the name of the tool, it sounds like it encapsulates some javascript functionality.

I have tried searching for different spellings - "JROK" / "JROCK" / "JROQ" but I haven't found any matches.

Have you ever heard of a dev tool by this name?

The root causes does not appear to be clear. Any suggestions on how to debug this issue?

I am using VS2008 and I am can't seem to figure out how to open the "Web Site Administration Tool."

MSDN says - "To access the Web Site Administration Tool, on the Website menu, click ASP.Net Configuration."

However, I don't see "Website" as a top-level or child menu item or under "View>Toolbars>Customize."

Am I missing something here?

It's right between Refactor and Build on the toolbar if you are actually working on a web application.

I don't see the Refactor menu item.

Found it. In my version of VS2008 it's under "Project > ASP.NET Configuration"

i have a gridview and it has 2 rows.

in each row there is a button (Show Details).

i would like to take the user to another page page when he cliks the button. and in this page show the details of the particular row from the 1st page.

this is my gridview:

when the user clicks the button, how can i identify the "IDNumber" of that particular row?

I created and referenced the following gridview dynamically
which provides more flexibility. Consequently, you have an onclick attribute that gets the value and reset the function/procedure

Hai

I need to send E-mails to 1000 clients every end of the month automatically, so please tell me some ideas that how i can do that.
i will have all 1000 client address stored in a DB and on a specific date
mails need to get dispatched.

ASP.Net is a web technology and every web technology works on request response method. So from where do you think are going to trigger the sending of email automatically?

What I suggest is create a Windows Application to do this for you and schedule it accordingly.

Uh, Why? If you can't answer that adequately, stop and think. Answers that are not adequate include but are not limited to "because the rest of the project is ASP" or "because the client wants ASP". It's completely and utterly the wrong platform. It will get you nothing more then a horrendously complicated solution to a fairly trivial problem.

Like Manas said, create a windows app or service.

Many email servers "throttle" email sending, limiting you to only so many emails per hour, or requiring a certain number of seconds between emails, or limiting the number of recipients on a single email. This is to keep the mail servers from being blacklisted as spam-generators!

So you might want to find out what limits, if any, are imposed by the email server(s) you will be using, and design accordingly.

other than that, System.Net.Mail does a fine job but I suggest you write a class/component to do the work so you can call it from asp.net or a winforms app or a service or whatever you end up with. Though it is possible to do what you want from asp.net, (a) there's no real need to do it that way and (b) it will be problematic to figure out how to trigger it appropriately on schedule
