you need also the data base server for that. you just take a backup and restore the database on web database server from where your web server will connect with data base server.

Thanks for the answer. I think I understand what needs to be done. The problem I have is, how to do that. Visual Studios .net creates a file called ASPNETDB.MDF stored on my harddrive. I purchased web space for a hosting company. The host allows me to create a MS SQL database from an interface page. What do I need to do to transfer this database to hosting companies server? Then connect to this database with my asp.net code? I'm running a XP Pro machine with Visual Studios 2005. I'm very new to programming and many instruction are above me head. Please help me understand what program to use and how to do it.

You can always go into SQL Server Management Studio and generate a Create Database script. Take the generated script and run it on the hosting account.

Hi!..I am creating a website for displaying examination results and there are three tables of which either one or two or all of them have to be displayed depending on choice of subject.Could I get the best choice ..I mean should I use control panels (with visible set to true or false) or dynamic tables or Ajax functionality.

i want to update data from gridview i tried to do but always getting strange errors .... i m using update [tab] set [name field] = [@parameter1] where [id field] = [@parameter2] in my sqldatasource but dont know where to provide these parameters value specially when the controls is inside gridview which cant be accessed that easily.... can any1 explain this ??
thankx.

i can do this manually by defining template edit, update, cancel field when on clicking update execute my manual update code.

i m asking for non-manual way to do it.

for updating the data fields in a grid view , u may hav to do a little
changes in the properties of the Grid view.

first, u select the data source of the Grid and after putting the update query with the parameters , Go to the Grid view properties and select the "DatakeyNames" prop. and then frm that select ur "id field" for it.
After that u select the smart tag of Grid view : check the "Enable Editing" and then go for "Edit Colums".
From that , first uncheck "Auto-gen. fields" check box then add from
"Command fields" the Edit,update etc. then add all the "Bound fields "(if u can't find it just refresh schema). Then finally, select the added bounded fields and put the fields to edit and make its "readonly" prop. as false and others must b true.

If the image is relative to the css or in an images folder inside the given theme folder, it should look like this:

/* images folder located inside theme folder */
background-image:url("images/yourimage.jpg");

/* images folder located in root of app */
background-image:url("/images/yourimage.jpg");

As you have been told ... image pathes in css files are relative pathes ... depending on where you are using the image currently (herarichally in folders) ... so the same image you can see it in a page in folder1 and not in folder1/folder2... you can manage using absoulte path to be loaded in runtime in your base page if you have one for example ...

Hi, I'm working with the wizard control in a page I am building, and suddenly I realized that for some reason the viewstate of many of the controls inside the wizard's TemplatedWizardSteps CustomNavigationTemplates wasn't being saved. But not only wasn't it being saved, the stuff became pretty much random. I made a simple test:

Hi all,

iam using Date selector control as user can select date ,in my aspx page, iam using following java script code

Hi all..
I have used html object tag to play audio. It plays fine. Now I have a button of repeat & shuffle. I have applied logic for both. Bt wat happens is dat wen some song is playing & i click on repeat, den dat song stops playing & repeat logic is applied. Wat i want is dat it shld first finish playing that song & den apply repeat logic. Can anyone help me in this... Any sort of help is appreciable...

Hi,

I have mad a website in ASP.Net 2.0 using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
This website also uses SQL Server 2005 for its database.

Now, I want to deploy this website to my customer and i want to provide a Installer application.

I need to:
1. Install the ASP.Net website vial installer, it needs to be precompiled as i dont want to release my source code to customer.
2. I want to run the SQL Server 2005 scripts on customer database, this should also be via some installer.
3. I may have to provide ASP.Net\database updates to the customer, as these is a good chance that I will recieve change request (essentially, I might have to release patch of my ASP.Net files in future)

I have searched internet for this, but there is no clear answer. The "publish"\"copy" etc will not work for me, as I need to provide an installer.

The Best Soluation is to devloped your own custome Installer. you can developed a Windows Appliction Which can perform

1. Deploy the publised web sites to IIS by creating Virtual Directory.
2. Change and Set Configuration on IIS
3. Connnect With SQL Server , Run Script
4. Reseting IIS

Good Question ... I think I can help you ...
You see there is a simple tool called Web Deployement Projects for Visual Studio 2005 and there is one for Visual Studio 2008 ... this tool helps you to make an installer for your precompiled web application ...

Simply its used as follows:
- Install this tool
- Go to your web application and right click on the site (at visual studio of course)
- Click on Add Deployment Project
- A new project is added to the solution which simply will make a precompilation for your site
- Add a WebSetup Project to your solution
- Make the project output point to the newly added web deployment project
- Build it !

I have already tried to download, but installation of "WebDeploymentSetup.msi" fails on my computer.

I have Visual Studio 2005 Professional installed.

The error message is:
Error attempting to read from the source install database:
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\83bf8.msi

I get option to Try Again or Cancel.

I tried 'Try Again' several times, but no luck

Hi all,

I am developing a web appln where user have to play video and audio files when they click on the filename.i am listing all the file name in a datagrid and i have an image button "play" in each row.when user cliks on it,it shuld play the video or audio in the same page
