Ok I created a application that uses SQL. It stores the information the user enters in a textbox to a sql database. When the user views that information in a textbox it displays exactly like they wrote it. Example:
If they wrote this in a textbox:
Testing my TextBox
This is the second line with a space inbetween
This is the third line with a space inbetween
Now it gets displayed back just like that in a text box.
If I were to send it in a email it is displayed like this:
Testing my TextBox This is the second line with a space inbetween This is the third line with a space inbetween
It does not recongize the new line character a textbox uses. Is there a way to fix this?
I have the email sending set to HTML and it needs to be that way.

Since you are sending in HTML format, you need to use an HTML newline to make it look right. Just look for the newlines in the textbox, and change it to <br />. That should be simple enough.

when displaying it back from the database to a textbox you dont actually see a new line character. Basically when sending it in html I need to replace each newline character that is for a textbox with a html new line character

Well, with the change in sending mail from .Net 1.1 to 2.0; somehow it has become a tricky part.
But what you can do for this is that just before sending the email, replace the message like this.
LstrMessage = LstrMessage.Replace("\r\n", "</br>");

Well what I am doing is putting the email in a StringBuilder.
so are you talking about doing it like this:
MailMessage mm = new MailMessage("from","to","Subject", sb.ToString().Replace("\r\n","
");
Now this information is being stored in a SQL database. Could that have any affect on it? When sending the email though, it is being sent from the TextBox after retrieving it from the database.
I did try the code mentioned above and couldn't seem to get it to work.

I have a HttpWebResponse object with the content like text, doc, xls, jpg or other files. and I need to display the content open or save way. For that I wrote the code like this:

If the HttpResponse has text file content, I can open or save. But if it has some other files like image, doc, excel content, they either don't open or opens with garbage content. What's wrong in this code ?

Hi,
In a web application, in Login form, when user enters Username & password
and clicks Login button the page be covered by a light white skin and be desabled until login result appers (succeed/failed).
and if login failed, a message appers in another beautiful page (that page is not browser form, Internet explorer , .... it's customized), snd
the login page be disabled (in normal view of it) until user closes the message form.
What I want to do is EXACTLY this:

Hi,
I put following code to register my startup script in case exception occurs in saving the record.
..

so the alert message show up as the error occurs and page refreshes.
But this script remains registered with my page forever for any action which involves page refresh, the above message shows up.
Is there anything I can do so that the script only runs once (in case of exception) and not for other page postbacks?
Can I unregister it in the javascript itself. or is there any other way?
any tip will highly help me.

I think you can use ClientScript.RegisterClientScript(....) method instead of RegStartupScript(). I hope this is helpful to you. Moreover you are using this script in catch block when error comes this script executes(vb code) so may be your catch block is executing every time of page_Load event without considering of postback events. Verify that too.

see, flow of the actions is
1. user clicks save record button.
2. error occurs
3. in vb code behind exception block code, alert message javascript is registered as startup script
4. postback happens
5. page loads again and alert message is shown
6. now this script is registered with the page , now you hit F5 , page refreshes again and this message is shown again. here its not going to exception error code block to register again
i want this alert to be shown only once, not for every postback

I have an old control (VB6) that I am trying to incorporate to an ASP/C# website. I have the control loading properly and can set basic variable type properties of the control on the client side through Javascript; however, some properties, specifically ADODB recordsets, throw up the following error when trying to assign:
'ABODB' is undefined.
The line of javascript it barfs on:
myObj.GenRecordset = <%=GetGenRecordset %>;
where the GetGenRecordset returns a proper ADODB.Recordset through its 'get' accessor. I have tried changing it to only pass the generic object type rather than the ADODB.Recordset but get the exact same error.
I want the control to load and run on the client side in the browser and the back-end to be able to post events coming from a piece of server software (also VB6). The back-end events are coming through fine, but the initialization of the control is giving me problems.
I am using the C# access through Javascript approach because it seems like the best way to do it, although I am open to a different method if suggested.
