You are confusing rasdial.exe with RasDial() .

What do you mean by send some strings to the phone ?

i want to connect to the telephone the same way the dial-up internet connection works.
in my project, the server is to dial the telephone number of the client, at client side, the phone will check the caller's number, if its server's, then i want the server to communicate with the client thro the telephone line.

OK - that's the entire assignment. We need to know what have you accomplished in the assignment by far and what exactly do you need help with, at the moment.

Hi!
I'm developing a VC++ Application. When I close the application(Window), it shows me the following exceptions in the output area:
First-chance exception at 0x7c81eb33 in CharacterAnimation.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: std::ios_base::failure at memory location 0x0012ef30..
First-chance exception at 0x7c81eb33 in CharacterAnimation.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: std::ios_base::failure at memory location 0x0012f034..
What might be the cause of these exceptions? How do I overcome these exceptions?
Use your debugger and try to see what might be wrong when the exception is fired: inspect variables, memory, ... It will be much more easier to track the problem once you have more information.
How do I see the Debugger?
Err, you don't "see" it, you use it. Press F5 to start the debugger, then you will be able to put breakpoints in your code using F9. See where the crash occurs and look at the call stack to locate the problem in your sources. Then inspect the different variables before the crash occured.
No crash occurs. After I manually closed the application,
First-chance exception at 0x7c81eb33 in CharacterAnimation.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: std::ios_base::failure at memory location 0x0012ef30..
First-chance exception at 0x7c81eb33 in CharacterAnimation.exe: Microsoft C++ exception: std::ios_base::failure at memory location 0x0012f034..
These two lines are displayed in the Output area.
Well then just put some breakpoints just before your application exists and go steps-by-steps (check what are the shortcuts because I don't remember by heart).
I would recommend getting a good book for learning VC++ and read it first. If you don't know such basic things like debugging then you won't be able to do much.

Communication between CSocket and BSD Socket
Hi Friends,
I wanted some help on my project as i have stuck at a place.
Basically i am developing a Client Server Application.
My Server is using a class derived from CSocket.
Wherein i wanted is it possible to communicate a Client which is based on
BSD Socket with a Server which is build using CSocket.

Having never done that myself I can't gaurantee it'll work but the answer must still be yes otherwise the internet itself would not work!
Windows sockets were originally developed from BSD sockets anyway, back in the days of Win95, so you shouldn't have too many problems. I would recommend using the 'raw' Winsock APIs send, recv, setsocketopt etc rather than the somewhat buggy MFC Socket classes, especially if you're doing anything Asychronous/multi threaded which is pretty much a given on the Server side.
I hope it goes well.

I think you will be OK here. BSD Sockets are the "standard" TCP/IP or UDP/IP socket. Winsock is a Windows implementation of BSD sockets. There is no reason a correctly implemented socket application would not be able to communicate across the network and across different systems (barring network failures, firewalls, etc.)
Peace!

Hello Everybody!
Can anyone tell me how can I encode a xml file to a WBXML file and vice varsa.
I am using libwbxml library for the same but not getting the correct results all the time this is giving error statement as Attribute table value not found or Unknown xml language. here is my code
encoder = wbxml_encoder_create();
wbxml_encoder_set_use_strtbl(encoder,TRUE);
ret = wbxml_tree_from_xml(xml,&tree);
wbxml_encoder_set_tree(encoder,tree);
ret = wbxml_encoder_encode_to_wbxml(encoder,&wbxml,&wbxml_len);
//ret = wbxml_conv_xml2wbxml(xml, &wbxml, &wbxml_len, ¶ms);

Try this
CString sPathName = "......\File1.doc";
ShellExecute(AfxGetMainWnd()->GetSafeHwnd(), "open", "winword",sPathName, NULL, SW_SHOWNORMAL);
