You can access the pixels directly ? I thought you couldn't b/c of the lack of pointer access ?

If I am altering an existing file what I do is copy the contents of the file into an array. I do all my reading and writing of pixels in the array. Then I copy the array back into a memory stream and display the memory stream.
Your method with pointers is probably slightly faster since it doesn't require any copying but my method is fast enough that you can create/alter and display an entire image in less than a blink of an eye so the difference doesn't really matter.
I suspect setpixel/getpixel is so slow because it probably repeats the calculation of how many bytes per line every time it is called. In my system this only needs to be done once which saves a huge amount of processing time.

Set oFso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
sFilepath = cdg.Filename
oFso.CreateTextFile (sFilepath)
Set f = oFso.GetFile(sFilepath)
Set oTextStream = f.OpenAsTextStream(ForWriting, TristateUseDefault)
oTextStream.WriteLine "hello..."

It's not working because you are opening the file (when creating it), and then try to open it again without first closing it.
The CreateTextFile creates the file by opening it for writing, so you should take care of the text stream object that the method returns, and not try to open the file again.
Don't forget to close the stream when you are done writing to it.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

How to develop a tool in VB.net for comparing the two different file format documents (Like PDF , Word, Excel , HTML)
Please guide.

First step is to find the libraries you need to even read those formats. Next is to define what you're comparing ( for example, if the same numbers appear in a row in Word, in a table in HTML and in a sheet in Excel, does that mean they match ? )

Hi ,
From a datagridview I would like to get the data of the complete row for a cell that's double clicked by end user.
example if the data grid has following view
<br />
customer name | Gender | DOB<br />
hum | M | 1976-01-01 <br />
tum | F | 1977-01-01<br />
Woh | F | 1989-01-01<br />
If the user clicks on the row 2 that is for customer tum all the data should show up in a text box
Any idea tutorial or a hint would be of great help
Thanks in advance

The easiest thing what u can do is find the row of current cell, and take the values of each col of the row and put it in the required text box
Eg
rowNo = DataGridView.CurrentCell.rowIndex<br />
<br />
TextBox.text=DataGridView.Rows(rowNo).Cells(0).Value.tostring
Good Luck

In the cell double click event use the e.rowindex (I think) to get the row then iterate through the columns/cells. You can also use the bound datatable once you have the row index.

I tried that but did not work.

Then you are doing something wrong in your code, heres a snippet that I use to get the id from the first column and check the column header of the clicked column. From the CellDoubleClick event
iID = dgData.Rows(e.RowIndex).Cells(0).Value
If dgData.Columns(e.ColumnIndex).HeaderText = "mytext" Then

I got it did something like
<br />
Private Sub DataGridView1_CellContentClick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventArgs) Handles DataGridView1.CellDoubleClick<br />
Dim myrow As Array<br />
Dim mydatarow As DataRow<br />
mydatarow = DS.Tables(0).Rows.Item(e.RowIndex)<br />
myrow = mydatarow.ItemArray<br />
Dim mydata As String<br />
mydata = myrow.GetValue(0)<br />
MsgBox(mydata)<br />
End Sub<br />
its giving me what I want

There is no ternary operator in VB.NET. The closets equivilent is the IIf[^] function.
|
|
|
|
|
VB 2008 does have a true ternary operator with an alternative use of the existing keyword 'If':
result = If(somecondition, iftrue, iffalse)
this is equivalent to the C# code:
result = somecondition ? iftrue : iffalse;

OK, in that case, I guess the answer is, pray.
Or you could read the article I link to in my sig. See if at the end of that, you're capable of using google to find this[^], as I did.
