We know. This is due to a quick and dirty optimisation we had to do last night due to a stored procedure that was previously running instantly suddenly deciding that 5 mins was a far more relaxed and sensible time within which to run.
We're just sweeping up the mess from last nights work and will have it fixed in a couple of hours

Also, the Java[^] forum shows 243 post count but when I entered, there's no posts...showing "no messages" !!

Yep - it's a database timeout. You know the one - works screamingly fast when called any place except the one line of code where you want it to. And everything is the same.
Third time this week and we're starting to think someone is messing with our heads.

Let me put is like this...
Suppose User A asked a question, I didn't know the answer then, so I tell user A "I don't know, will reply later".
After sometime I do get a valid answer so I reply to him by modifying my original message, so does user A get alerted of this modification just like a new message alert is send? If not is it possible?
I just send a 'new message' to a user to tell him the answer?

This would be a bit annoying in cases where members make multiple updates of posts. We can do it but I've deliberately turned it off.

Yes agreed it's annoying for small modifications, but if the time between last modification and current modification is big enough it will be nice IMO to let the user know!

The real question is, why would you say "I dont know, but will reply later"? If you dont know, why say it? Just let someone else answer. Your "I dont know" doesnt help the person who asks the question, even if you say that you "will reply later" with a correct answer.Seriously.

I replied to him in 2006, so now I know a better answer hence thought to modify my original message, but I had to post a new one to let him know!

Okay, I submitted an article this morning, but for whatever reason it refused to show the source code download.
I just deleted it and resubmitted, and now the old item on the CP home page is still there - with the wrong url (of course), and the new item isn't listed at all.
Okay, that part seems to have fixed itself.
Further, I usually create my article text offline. I use paragraph tags for paragraphs (I know - silly idea), but CP uses line feed tags between paragraphs. The whole editing thing kinda sucks...
When you move between "WYSIWYG" mode and html mode, your text is completely reformatted, and is extremely difficult to manage at that point.

Part of this is converting HTML to XHTML. We need to ensure that the HTML on the site is well formed and that can be tricky to do while maintaining layout because if the HTML is really screwy then the final corrected result can be quite different.
What we are doing is an initial correction using the browser's DOM so that you can immediately see what happens to your HTML when it's corrected. If your code is already correct then the display you see shouldn't be affected. If your initial HTML wasn't correctly formed then you may see changes which could prompt you to go back and edit and it's this 'corrected' HTML that's screwy.
