Seriously, I would like to know from you a better solution and a simpler solution for this problem.

I don't know of one! What is simpler than drawing in response to
WM_PAINT? Pretty much the fundamental process in Windows GUI programming.
I'm just saying, that since the OP seems to ignore this advice, I can
only assume (s)he wants something simpler. If so, I'm out of ideas.

Hope the readonly style and disable styles are not set..
BTW when u try to type, does the caret blinks on edit control? Also check the following..
1 .Set some text to that control using SetWindowText and check whether it is gettingg displayed.
2. check WM_SETTEXT message is handled in edit control
3. check WM_PAINT/ WM_ERASEBKGND/ WM_CTLCOLOR message is handled in edit control

It's possible the edit control is disabled. I think the method to enable it is CWnd::EnableWindow (BOOL).

have u figured out what the problem is??? if not please debug and see what the problem is.. i am sure u will be able to figure out the problem..

Hi all,
I have made a dialog based application. In that i have a Edit box. In that edit box i am reading the contents of a flat text file. Now my problem is sometimes the line in the file is bigger than the edit control shown. so i want to break the line say at about 85 characters..
How could i do this..
Can anybody help me in this...
Thanks in advance

Disable the "Auto HScroll" style from the properties of your edit box. This will automatically wrap the text to the beginning of next line, when necessary.

Hi Experts,
How can I debug a dll file?
Please tell me the steps to achive this.
|

|
Run a program that loads it, and attach the debugger.

You need a startup application that loads the dll and calls the functions.
if you have the corresponding "pdb" file for the dll and corresponding source files you can debug the dll viewing the source code.
please specify the situation.

Actually I am using this dll for shell context menu. So I have to regitster it and this is called through the right click of any file or folder.

Along with Naveen's reply, whose link provides information to start a new explorer, try attaching to the already running explorer.exe from the menu Tools->Attach to process (select explorer.exe).
|
|
|
|
|
If I attach explorer.exe, a dialog appear with text "explorer.exe does not contain debug symbols".
|
|
|
|
|
what happens if you skip it as you are not going to debug explorer.exe but your dll.
