Yes. You can. but I'm sure that this is NOT a good way. I highly recommend you to use VS 2008 for developing Silverlight application.. UX team from Microsoft put a lot of efforts in Silverlight 2 that you can't get the template in VS 2005. So, if you are using VS 2005, you will miss a lot of features.. another thing is "support". There are a number of active community member who are willing to help the Silverlight 2 problems. (cuz they can learn from your problems.)

So, if you are just a starter of Silverlight, I suggest you to use VS 2008 instead of VS 2005.

You're better off with VS2008 if you are going to do anything with Silverlight. I've tried with VS2005 and it is not as pleasant as VS2008 Smile | :)

Since you seem to be the man to ask - I installed the beta 2 tools and what not, but there doesn't seem to be any drag and drop support in the VS 2008 designer and the properties windowy/sidebar thingy is empty. Is this correct?

Yes, it is seems so. Right now I am using VS2008 and Expression Blend combo...

Hi guys,
In my WPF-IU I have 2 UserControls, one for company and one for customers.
Lets say i am in customers.xaml.cs file and i want the name of the company, that are in company.xaml.cs. How can I make that happen.

I've just started playing around with WPF. Is there is any way to run a Component control such as a HelpProvider on a WPF window? I've looked over the WindowsFormsHost and it only seems to support items that inherit from Control.

Google has only shown me examples of how people have re-written HelpProviders or Tooltips etc instead of using the old ones.

Hi,

does someone have experience with WPF applications using terminal server sessions like Terminal Server or Citrix?
We plan to redesign our product and have to decide if we will using Windows Forms or WPF. Most of our customers
using Terminal Server. We ask ourselves if its a good decision to use WPF. What about the memory capacity, CPU usage, if 100
clients using a WPF application on Terminal Server?

Does someone have experience with that combination?

Please only seriously meant answers.

It can be done. Take a look at Project Apollo (Citrix Multimedia Virtualization Initiative) for more information. Basically, there used to be a problem with WPF on Citrix, but now graphics hardware is utilised in the same way as Citrix did for GDI+ (there was a problem where WPF required 16bit, but CPS only utilised 15 out of the 16 bits which has now been corrected). I hope that helps.

Hi All,

I really want to use this tool to debug and generally learn more about WPF but I just can't seem to get it built properly.

Everytime I launch it, the 'Chooser' dialog opens and contains all the right things (ie: running WPF apps) but selecting one and clicking on 'Snoop' does nothing.

I've tried just building the C# bit (it says on the website that the C++ bit doesn't need building) building it in Release (the compile fails) and Debug modes. I've tried building the whole thing again as well, it just never seems to work.

Anyone have any ideas?

You need to hook the RichTextBox's Drop Event[^]. As far as the field in the database, if you are using sqlserver there is a datatype called 'image' that you can use. Here[^] is an example doing just that.

also. i am doing this project in WPF

i would like to know how do i drag in a picture or upload a picture into a RICHTEXTBOX where i am able to save the richtextbox's content into the database. just imagine writing a diary.. which got words and picture..after finish.. i save all into database.

the first link that i provided was for the wpf richtextbox.

I guess i need more information. Why do you want to use a richtextbox for this? why not a listbox or listview?

however .. how do i save the pictures which is in wrappanel form into sql database?
what i would like to do this to enable people to write diary.. as well as allow them to drag in the pictures into that wrap panel.. after they are done.. save into the database

To save the RichTextBox, you could do this:

myRichTextBox.SelectAll();

using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream())
{
  myRichTextBox.Selection.Save(ms, DataFormats.Xaml);
  ms.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin);
  using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(ms))

Hi,

i have some problems with WPF Browser Application and web browsers.
On some computers it works but on the others not.
Case one:
Works on Firefox and IE7 Smile | :)

Case two:
Works only on IE7, while opening in FF opening windows "Save as..."
Case three:
Works only on IE7, while opening in FF opening windows got only values which are between XML tags (when checking source got it all)
Case fourth:
Dont work on IE7 - browser shows source of xbap file, in FF got only values which are between XML tags (when checking source got it all)

All computers have instaled FF 2.0.0.12 and IE7 with updates and .Net Framework 3.5 (Fresh instaled XP SP2 with all updates)

I checked mime types sended by server and it looks ok:

HTTP/1.x 200 OK<br />
Content-Type: application/x-ms-xbap<br />
Content-Length: 5331<br />
Last-Modified: Sun, 02 Mar 2008 09:11:55 GMT<br />
Connection: Keep-Alive<br />

Hi All,

I'm a bit stuck on this and the Infragistics Documentation server has been down all weekend. Would it really hurt to had locally in PDF???

I'm doing this in a button click:

SingleDirectoryResults is a generic list that implements IEnumerable, how do I go about setting this new dynamic object as the data source for the datagrid?

You will bind your SingleDirectoryResults to the datagrid using the ObjectDataProvider.
