I am having some problem with the image control. I want to generate the image dynamically for that i have done this..

this.Controls.Add(img);
Image control comes on the page but image is not showing........
Plz help me..

In my application there was a problem bcoz of spaces in the url that should be converted to %20.
Its working fine with C:\test\64006706.jpg as there is no space.
but in my case there are spaces between my documents it was the reason.
Can we do this programatically..
I don't want to search space and replace %20.....
Is there any other way........

I setup a club site from the MSDN web. I have been trying to add a file upload section for our newsletters so that they can be stored into the database as well as retrieved with a couple of gridviews I have setup. I have found a nice working model of what I am looking for and have tried to use it in my website. I have been successful at using the example in the existing code project but as soon as I put it into mu code project I have been having problems compiling the website with errors such as Name not declared and handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its sub types. I am new to this and am not sure where to fix this. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I have an ASP.net project written in Visual Basic using Studio 7.10. I am trying to build it on my machine using Visual Studio 2005 (version 8.0). When I try to laod the project I get the following error:
"An error occurred accessing your windows Sharepoint Services site files...."
My question is, why is it concerned with Sharepoint? There must be something in one of the project files that needs it. How do I find out what it is?
I am very new to this. I can install Sharepoint on my computer, but I want to understand the problem better. Any comments are appreciated.
I am running Windows Vista Business with .Net 2.0.

Assigning a CssClass to a control works just like you'd expect. Except for when it doesn't. I find myself frequently doing view source on pages so I can figure out how MS is rendering stuff so that I can then debug the CSS problems. I've looked in vain for coherent MS documentation that would tell me on a per control basis what stylesheet elements they'll actually respond to.
I would think it would be a Good Thing to use CssClass rather than control properties, but I grow weary of the guessing game with some controls (try managing the width of a horizontal Menu control without getting your menu items spaced three light years across).
Am I missing something terribly obvious in this architecture? Is there some Holy Grail (or at least Holy Hand Grenade) that I'm overlooking that would explain, in very simple words and as if to a small child, just exactly what CSS these controls are willing to play nice with?

Hello All,
Got a funny little thing happening when I am trying to pass 2 bits of information from one page to the other. I am using public properties on the source page and trying to retrive the properties on the target page. What is happening is that I can only retrieve one of the elements but not the other. Both are setup in the same manner but I just can't seem to get one of the values. Below are the snippets of code. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Oh, I can only retrive the integer value. I cannot retrieve the UserName.

I can only assume that pUserName isn't being set properly. Are you sure the value of this variable has been set before you access the Property?

Calling ToString() on an int will never return a null value, so this check is redundant. Make your property get/set a nullable int instead.

I thought of the variable not being set so on the Source page I added:
this.lblSuccess.Text = String.Format("Successful login. Welcome back {0}", userName);
which displays correctly. I set the value on the postback after I retrive the name from the dB. So therein lies my problem.
Flow:
- Display initial page with login txtBoxes user clicks continue.
- Post back to same page and do the db stuff and assign values.
- User clicks another continue button to go to the next page.
- Target page finds the public variables with IntelliSense so it knows it's there.
Crazy man. Crazy.

Is it possible to start a function or subroutine AFTER an aspx page has loaded? I have tried Page_Load(), read into AJAX and tried a few things (UpdatePanel and ScriptManager), and tried calling a vb function from javascript on the page (calling back to my _Default class); thus far, nothing has worked.
My goal is to develop an application that checks for the existence of registry values and logs a line of text to a listbox control after each registry check. This is pointless if the logging is all populated to the listbox before the page completely loads (which is what happens if I use Page_Load()). I also want this entire process to be automated so that the user does not have to click a button or do anything to initiate the registry checking.
Is what I'm trying to accomplish possible with ASP.NET with or without AJAX? Am I on the right track? Any suggestions?

Hi..
I have made a page using which files can be uploaded.File gets uploaded after creating a folder with same name of the particular file,within a root folder.
Now,I want that a specific group of users will be able to download not all but some files,other files will be not be accessible to them.Again another group of users will be able to download another set of files.
I hope my need is clear
So,how can this be achieved?Any suggestion,code snippet,tips will be helpful..

You are making it difficult by creating folders for each file, not to mention creating quite a mess on the file system. If you had folders that represented the different user roles, you could have the files uploaded there and use the web.config file to restrict access to the folders based on the roles.

Actually the scenario is that, in a learning institute different courses are offered.Courses have their unique ids.And students are enrolled to one or more courses.Students will be able to download only those contents to which they are enrolled to.
So,what may be the most optimized solution to this?

I work with visual web developer 2005 asp.net for the 1st time and sqlserver2005 to achieve an intranet site for the service school.
Now what they are doing is that university is:
For each semester, the registration service write the names and num-registration ds register students this semester in an Excel worksheet for each level.
each teacher introduced the notes of his field for different students in a column (note_matière1 for example) of this spreadsheet excel.
they use Excel to calculate ways,..
I spent a lot of time to test a gridview but there is no possibility of inserting a column if I:
Num_inscription name marks_frensh
1077 ssss 12
1078 AAA 15
1079 kkkkk 16
To insert the notes they need me whenever select and then click update for each student and it is not practical !!!!!
I spent a lot of time with and excel without result.
I consulted a lot of forum was told than in the controls Infragistics, there is a grid like excel but I need the license !!!!!!!
I dont know if I happened to explain this project or not.

What is your question?
Do you want a licence for the Infragistics product? Then you'll have to purchase one, just like everyone else.
If you don't want to purchase a 3rd party product, you can develop an editable grid in ASP.NET using the GridView control. An explanation of how to do this is beyond the scope of a forum question, but there are plenty of examples online. For instance, try here[^].

Yes, you do. So, if you can't pay for it, then you need instead to think about how their control does what you want, and write your own code to do the same.

If I want that after only checking a certain check box a button will be activated. As for example, suppose after checking the "terms and Conditions" check box ,the "Submit" button will be enabled.

You can do it with javascript. You need to hook OnClick event to the checkbox, get the button's object using getElementById() and use controlObject.Disabled = false;
