Hello .. I am a newbie n i wanted some grade of help regarding presentation logic.
What should I do to structure the system in such a manner that super admin .. ,admin or some other role say accounts can create new roles and new users.
What shud be the presentation logic . shuid i user a tree structure wheren in when a user clicks he is able to create users of role less that or equal to his own authority ..How to do that and how to structure that ..
Is there any thing els epossible except tree structure and is the tree structure really fruitful enough.

I'm beginning to think that I just can't publish a Web Service on IIS 5.1 on Windows XP.
But in online help and books and CP articles I don't see anyone mention what the minimum platform and limitations are.
I've been banging my head on it; it must be a wall.
I'll likely wipe the system and install Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7 in the near future anyway, but I'd like to know whether or not this can be done.

Are you referring to a .NET web service (.asmx file)? IIS 5 + the .NET Framework should be sufficient.

The first Internet Explorer 8 Beta has been released at MIX08.The version is primarily for use by web developers who want to test their web sites. A test version for consumers is slated for later this year. The release date has not been announced.
A new feature, called WebSlices, lets users subscribe to specific content on the web page, such as updates about friends on a social networking site. It monitors changes in a pane that drops down from the browser's toolbar. Another feature, called Activities, lets users highlight words on a web page and click them in another online service, such as searching for an address in a mapping site.
Some sites will not work with the new features. There will be an option to set IE 8 to render pages as if it were IE 7.

I had a discussion with my professor, (who is an associate professor) and he didn't effectively explain terminating semicolons to me.
I started self-learning in C# and am now in a local CC for a C# certificate. Part of the requirements is a Beginning Web Programming class. Love the class and am loving web programming.
Here is my question though. In regards to the terminating semicolon, is there a time when you shouldn't use it? Specifically, I lost points in a test for the following:
Write the format for an hotspot:
(I wrote)
<area shape="shape"; coords="coordinates"; href="url"; title="title" />
Basically, I copied it right out of the book, but I got knocked off for the terminating semicolons. I don't really care whether I was right or wrong in my argument with the professor, I just want to know the right way to do things, so I don't screw this up when I go to work for someone.

If you copied that out of a book, then that's one messed up book. You don't terminate HTML attributes with semicolons. You wrap them in quotes. Which you did. There's one specific attribute, style, that can contain multiple values delimited by semicolons... but even then, they're part of the value not the definition, so they go inside the quotes. Other uses for semicolons in HTML include terminating character entities (such as: & or A) and terminating statements in blocks of Javascript wrapped in <script> tags or event handler attributes.

The book wasn't messed up, I added the terminating semicolons myself. That's what I wanted clarification, since it hasn't affected my outputs at all.
The challenge I am facing is that when I started learning C# I had to learn the 'why' of what I was doing (a little theory to go with the practice). With this class there is no explination of 'why', just "do it this way". Meh.

That's not a "Terminating Semicolon"; that's an extraneous semi-colon.

However, I am new enough and the professor is teaching zero theory (which is frustrating). I assume he is being facetious, but it could just as easily be used technically and I wouldn't know...

C# and XML/HTML are two different things. Not every language or format has terminating semicolons. I'm not sure if this is XML or HTML, but either way, the semicolons are wrong. It's not C#.

hello fellows,
I'm facing a problem with localization. You know each time the browser create a request, it will send its language (en, en_us, ..etc) with the it where the web application can determine the language of the client and send the proper response.
Now, what i want is to play around with this option on the client-side not from the server-side. And I want the language option to be displayed as a choice as a select-box on login page.
My first option (as i think) is to modify the browser's language using javascript when the user select (event) a choice from the select-box.
My second option is to override the value of the header "accept-language" using javascript also.
Until now I couldn't know it those two options are possible or there's any other choices.
I really appreciate it if you can help

HI,
In an INTRANET area, my app needs to upload a .lnk file, this avoid to post the real target big file.
We use ASP.NET, IE or FireFox as browser, but I don't know how to solve this in <INPUT type="file"> world.....
In WINDOWS, the same problem is solved with the use of OFN_NODEREFERENCELINKS in OpenDialog form.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Unless the file being referenced actually exists on the web server, this isn't going to work. The big file would still have to be uploaded from the client machine via HTTP.

Yes, the file can be referenced from server Web...classic intranet area.
The very strange thing is the inability to upload a .lnk file, by browser.
...if this link works or not is a secondary issue.

You can use the border-radius style, but there'll be a lot of browsers that won't support it.

Hi friends,
Can anyone tell how to localize OK Cancel buttons of Confirm box . I am able to localize the texts in the confirmation box. But buttons wont be localized( OK , Cancel) especially in Japanese language. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem.
