hi all,
i have an html table with runat="server".
I am trying to export this table to excel but the result shows me disordered columns. This table contain several webuser controls in it. lets say one user control per row. In this web user control i have defined a table and added several controls to it with colspan and rowspan and stuff like that.
Not all the web user controls have the same order of tags lets say first web user control has in it table with=100%, tr, td, table.......
other has more nested tables inside.
After exporting to excel i find the table of the second webuser control resides under the first cell of the first webuser control.
have any body faced the same issue before? Any ideas?

The solution is to use AJAX. Not sure what else I can say without writing the code for you, but it's so straightforward that it's one of the canonical AJAX examples in books and on the web. The book 'AJAX in Action' has a chapter devoted to how to write what you're after.

You need to capture the enter key in javascript and make it do whatever you want it to. I assume the link you were given explained that.

I had created a Accessdatasource and a gridview to display data from a table and update it when neccessary.
Please have a look at the below code....
Displaying and updating is working fine after lot of efforts...
Now what i want to do is, update only three fields from the table, so i mentioned the first(ENo) field to readonly, in this case the updation is not taking place.
If the readonly is removed the data is updated properly, but i dont want the user to change the value in first field(ENo). As it will update other rows with that no.
How should i accomplish this... Please help...

<asp:AccessDataSource ID="AccessDataSource2" runat="server" DataFile="~/App_Data/abc.mdb"<br />
SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [Holiday] ORDER BY [ENo]" UpdateCommand="UPDATE [Holiday] SET [EName] = ?, [EDate] = ?, [EDay] = ? WHERE [ENo] = ?" DeleteCommand="DELETE FROM [Holiday] WHERE [ENo] = ?" InsertCommand="INSERT INTO [Holiday] ([ENo], [EName], [EDate], [EDay]) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?)"><br />
<DeleteParameters><br />
<asp:Parameter Name="ENo" Type="Int32" /><br />
</DeleteParameters><br />
<UpdateParameters><br />
<asp:Parameter Name="EName" Type="String" /><br />
<asp:Parameter Name="EDate" Type="String" /><br />
<asp:Parameter Name="EDay" Type="String" /><br />
<asp:Parameter Name="ENo" Type="Int32" /><br />
</UpdateParameters><br />
<InsertParameters><br />

<asp:Parameter Name="EName" Type="String" /><br />
<asp:Parameter Name="EDate" Type="String" /><br />
<asp:Parameter Name="EDay" Type="String" /><br />
</InsertParameters><br />
</asp:AccessDataSource><br />
<asp:GridView ID="GridView2" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" BackColor="White"<br />
BorderColor="#CCCCCC" BorderStyle="None" BorderWidth="1px" CellPadding="3" DataSourceID="AccessDataSource2"<br />
Height="8px" Style="left: 0px; position: relative; top: 0px" Width="512px"><br />
<FooterStyle BackColor="White" ForeColor="#000066" /><br />
<Columns><br />
<asp:BoundField DataField="ENo" HeaderText="No." /><br />
<asp:BoundField DataField="EName" HeaderText="Event Name" /><br />
<asp:BoundField DataField="EDate" HeaderText="Date" /><br />
<asp:BoundField DataField="EDay" HeaderText="Day" /><br />
<asp:CommandField ShowEditButton="True" /><br />
</Columns><br />
<RowStyle ForeColor="#000066" /><br />
<SelectedRowStyle BackColor="#669999" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" /><br />

<HeaderStyle BackColor="#006699" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" /><br />
</asp:GridView><br />
The only thing i need is How to make the field(ENo) read only and update rest of the fields successfully.
Plz avoid my grammer, i am not so good at it.

if (File1.PostedFile != null)
{
byte[] b;
using (Stream stream = File1.PostedFile.InputStream)
{
b = new byte[File1.PostedFile.ContentLength];
stream.Read(b, 0, b.Length);
}
} You will get the byte array. Update this to the database.

I was told storing images in databases isn't 'neat', and takes 'a lot of time' to work with (load tables etc.). Instead I store images on the harddrive and keep the locations stored in the database. Just wondering if this is still an 'issue'.
For example, I have a website where users can upload images and use those on the website. What is the best solution, store them in the database, or as told above, store them on the harddisc and keep the image location in the database?
- Does this depend on the amount of visitors your website generates?
- Does this depend on the filesize of your images (high-res versus dithered and rescaled images)?
Not that I have problems storing and using images, just wondering...

I think it depends on the resources you have. When your website is hosted on a shared server, you won't get much database space. So keeping images in database will make DB heavy. I have seen performance gain when I kept images in hard drive. Other point is maintainability. When one image has to be replaced, just login through FTP and replace the file. But if it is in database, you need separate user interface to do so.
Also images kept in the database makes DB backups a time consuming process. So thinking all possibilities, I always prefer to keep image path in DB and image in hard drive. What do you say ?

Good day.
I'm developing my own web control and I'm trying to set the other control as a property of my web control i.e.
<mycontrol:customcontrol id="TestID" formsubmitbutton="btn_SubscribeMe">
I need to access the btn_SubscribeMe from within my control. How can I achieve this?
The code for my control looks like this.
Private _formSubmitButton As WebControl
Public Property FormSubmitButton() As WebControl
Get
Return _formSubmitButton
End Get
Set(ByVal value As WebControl)
_formSubmitButton = value
End Set
End Property
And I get the following error:
Cannot create an object of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl' from its string representation 'btn_SubscribeMe' for the 'FormSubmitButton' property.
Can anyone tell me how I can acheive this?
Thank you very much. C# or VB code welcome.
