Any plain text.
For example, code snippets in any .cpp files; a sentence on a web page (for ex: the sentence Ignore HTML tags in this message (good for code snippets)) at bottom on this page; or a URL from the address bar of IE7, etc.
It is very weird that it can copy-and-paste with the computer at home now, but can not with the computer at work. They both have IE7. It must be some settings of IE7... Do you have any idea?

Are your security settings different? Are you allowing Paste to web forms?

I resetted the security settings of IE7 to default level, but the situation does not change. I can paste texts onto web forms. For example, I can paste texts onto Gmail (username/email title/email body edit controls) as well as other forums.

With this computer, only CP forums have this issue. I can do copy and paste at other sites with this computer. Can you provide a debug version test page to test the OnPaste() script for the clipboard data? (Actually I do not know how to debug a webpage ...)

One thing you could try is to set IE up so it reports all script errors, then try pasting.
A wild guess would be that it's a permissions problem causing a script to fail

Hi Chris,
I asked our IT managers. One of them told me that the server defined a policy in server side "Group Policy". He told me to try to change the policy at my local side, but it's not working. The server side policy supersedes my local one. (See below for the location.)
The policy monitors script operations on clipboard. I asked them about the difference between the form control of CodeProject and the mail editor form control of YahooMail (old version). We are not sure, but YahooMail editor is not blocked by the policy whereas CodeProject is blocked. I guess that it is because CodeProject modifies the < to & l t ;.
It would be appreciated if you can provide an alternative version of Forum Message Editor page for those who are under the control of corporate domain servers. The script does not patch the clipboard content, and there still are the function buttons for formats.

It would be even better if CodeProject provides an message editor like Gmail's mail editor. (It's Java component, right?!)

I was only told the location in local Group Policy [gpedit.msc]. I am not sure if it would be the same in ActiveDirectory server's Group Policy tool.

User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Internet Explorer/Internet Control Panel/Security Page/Internet Zone/
Policy: Allow cut, copy, or paste operations from the clipboard via script.

Okay Chris here's the suggestion that should win me a free T-shirt. As I'm sure you are aware I went off a bit yesterday (on purpose , mind you) about how we have these "suggestion" and "collaboration" and "work issue" forums but nobody ever really read them. It's a problem because people police the lounge and want you to post stuff there that fits. In a bastardized way that makes sense except that maybe 1% of those reading the lounge actually go read the other small-time forums.
Here's my suggestion. Implement a ticker at the top of the lounge. Just like a stock ticker it scrolls through all posts in the last 24 hours that have been made in (Collaboration/Testing - Math - Hardware - Bugs - Suggestions - Article Requests - Work Issues - General Discussions - Systems Administration) the lesser visited forums. Just like a marquee it just scrolls through them.
[...Suggestions->New Message Ticker->code-frog * System Administration->Video Card->Black Dice * Work Issues->My Boss Cheats->Chris Maunder...]
The ticker just toodles through them. It runs at the top of the lounge and then people can idly view new posts in the obscure and lesser visited parts of the site.

I think your suggestion is interesting. I don't see it solving the underlaying problem though: the less popular forums just aren't as interesting to most people (hence them being less popular).
As an example, I read the Math/Algorithm and Graphics forums whenever there's a new post. I just check the forums header and note which ones are bolded.
On the other hand, you could scroll all the info. you want in front of me about the other forums and I still won't check them because they don't interest me.
So, not sure your idea will solve anything. It'll be interesting to see what others think though - at least those that find the suggestions forum interesting, which I suspect isn't very many.

Oh gosh. Those are really good points. Hmm... {back to the drawing board} I'm not about to give up on this. I refuse to use those forums until this problem is resolved and I really want to contribute to help solve the problem.

The way I see it there are two problems:
1) The forums we're supposed to use aren't popular, so using them is pointless.
2) Intentionally putting an out-of-forum post in the lounge in order to get it the visibility it deserves breaks the posting guidelines (posting to an appropriate forum if one exists) and draws the ire of people like Drew  .
Item 2 has brought on further issues in that popular members can post pretty much anything to the lounge without so much as a hint of trouble (unless I happen to see it, 'cause I'm not much swayed by celebrity).
I don't see a solution to 1).
The only answer I see to 2) is to make it legitimate. It's that way now anyway, might as well accept it's going to continue and have a special status for certain people that just plain allows them to do that or allows them to post an advert. in the lounge pointing to their post in another forum.
I don't think this would fly, however, because it's not the way things are 'supposed' to be; despite the fact that it already, to a certain extent, works that way.
I'll be honest Rex. I don't see much difference in the lounge than I see in a big group of people anywhere else I've been. Some are jerks, some are pretenders, some are slicksters, some can't behave and some are just great to be around. No different here.

Another thought would be to have RSS feeds for some members. Perhaps platinum with more than 2k posts or some such criteria. That way I could subscribe to a Code-Frog feed 
I'd definitely subscribe to certain members as I'm usually more interested in what they have to say than what forum it happens to be in.

We've removed the blank line but we've put in place a space (so visually the same)
Do you specifically want a blank line (Which, on thinking about it, makes text-format reply emails look better) or just a bigger space?

Yep, and Math and Algo is even in the list on top of this page (it wasn't right after the
make over).
There always have been differences between the three-column list on top of most forums, and
the others lists elsewhere (such as the "Message Boards" pull-down menu, and the list page).
There used to be 30 forums in the 3-column list. Now there are 25 in the 3-column list,
some 15 of them in the pull-down (with slightly different names).
I have never understood why they are populated differently, with different names and orders.
I expected this to be streamlined with the make over, instead it went a bit backwards.
Several people have reported this. Fixing this seems like a small effort with a big return.
BTW: I continue to suggest you drop the "Visual" in the "Visual C++" forum name, it attracts
lots of people that get confused since they all use Visual Studio; and I suggest to add
"Unmanaged" to all C++ forum names but one.

the 30 titles are back on a couple of forums I checked. Thanks for that.
I do have one complaint though, they seem to hop around a bit:
C# is always in the left column (so far)
.NET Framework sometimes is in the left column, sometimes in the right column.
Don't know about all the others, I guess some of them move too.
This is rather annoying, I try to visit a couple of forums in one session, having
them move in the table makes that rather difficult (and when I hit the same one twice,
it adds to your server's load !!)
Actually I would suggest to give them all a fixed and logical order, say grouped similar to
what the list.aspx page gives.
