Hi Guys,
I have an asp.net page that has a Dropdownlist control linked to ListSearchExtender to have an incremental search feature. And my problem is that, everytime I key in something in the dropdownlist there's also a text at the top of the dropdownlist will display, this is the prompttext.
Is there a way to manipulate the Promptext either placing it next to the dropdownlist control at the right or just simple remove it?
I just can't find a way if how to manipuate or remove the promptext.
Hope you can help me with my current problem.

I need to create an IM Service just like the MSN Messenger,
but I don't know where to start from, what is the form of the server application
because I don't want the clients to poll data from the server every some seconds,
is there an application that I can put it on the Host that the client can open a tcp/ip session (winsock) with it,
what is that application? any idea may help.

I have spacer div with a height of 5px. In FF and Opera, the page is displayed correctly. In IE6, the div was significantly larger (about 20px).
Here's the style that works in opera and firefox:

I had to add overflow:hidden; or font-size:0px; to make it display as expected in IE6. It took me an hour to figure that out. I hate IE.

This is a well known problem with IE. For some reason it thinks that an element has to be at least one character (1.0em) high.
Setting the font size changes the size of em unit so that one em isn't higher than the specified height. Setting overflow keeps the contents from expanding the element. The contents is still one em high, but only part of it is visible.

I have a slight problem with update panel.

I am developing a website and a problem has been occured..well i have seen a lot of website(probably all) that when you join the website..the website send's you auto respond mail for activation link in email to your email address by which you activate your membership on that particular website.

Make a proxy page that loads the image from the database and sends it in the response using Response.BinaryWrite.
Use the url of the page as src in an img tag in a page.

But this just give an error of missing parameter and stuff... Why is this happening...
But when Im using only the outlook://calendar without the mailbox name I see my calendar. Hope someone enlighten me with this..

I have created a asp.net project in my PC i.e offline.My Project is in wwwroot>NGO folder.NGO is my virtual directory.Now i want to put this project on server for making it online.I tried putting it on server,.html files are visible but .aspx files are not loading,it shows page not found error.Plz help me,thank you.

Do you have IIS installed on that machine? HTML doesn't require a server to compile it. ASPX on the other hand is Active Server Page, meaning the server does the work. If you have IIS installed, it is quite simple to set it all up.

Do you have code execution turned on? You should see something that says execution permissions, you need at least Scripts only. And need to make sure FrontPage Server Extensions are setup, and that you have the right version of ASP.NET selected under the ASP.NET tab.

The server is handled by some third party,i am uploading my site through ftp.I can access that server only through ftp.

from the net to fix the problem i have with my projects tooltip. We use the 'ALT' on a image to give tooltips so I download a workaround from the net - which works but it displays typed text pages.
so if i had 5 fields with tooltips - i would have to create 5 html pages. So i thought of passing a parameter like you assisted but the tooltip does not picki t up.
The script works great on page1 to page2
but not on the below code: on mouse over it shows the next page with text box but blank-no value - but if I open i new window then the value is there!
Please download the example - i'm not to sure how to fix this!

In ASP.net, how can I call the session or application variable using java script?
for example in my vb code behind I have the following codes:

What is the correct of calling the application value and session value in Java Script?
I tried this one but it doesn't work:

You don't. Those services are available server-side, not client-side.
If you need values stored in the session on the client, you should add server-side code to write it to the page somehow (hidden field, script block, etc.)
