The only place you can put the launch of a Logoff or Shutdown script is in Group Policy. Click on Start/Run, then type GPEDIT.MSC and hit Enter.
Expand the Computer Configuration item on the left, then Windows Settings. This Scripts item is where the system's Startup and Shutdown scripts run from.
Expanding the User Configuration items, then Windows Settings, is where the User's Logon and Logoff scripts are run from.
You have to launch your code to do the backup from one of these places, depending on your requirements. But, a warning. The scripts only have a limited time to run. By default, it's 10 minutes. If your app doesn't finish it's work in that time, it'll be terminated and an error event logged.

I am confused about the data binding in the vb.net 2005.

You would need to supply the code to read/write the data back to the database. If I understand your implementation (you're leaving out a lot of information!), you would possibly have a Customers collection class that holds these Customer (???) objects. This Customers class would be responsible for iterating over the items in its collection and updating the database with any changes, as well as retrieving customer records from the database and creating new Customer object from it.
This has nothing to do with data binding, which means that controls are bound to a data collection, like a DataTable or some other collection.
Or did I miss the point of the question??

Diamond Binding[^] will perform that task for you, and also keep those property definitions synchronised with your database with a handy VS addin.
If you want to do it yourself, which is extremely boring, repetative, and likely to break every time you change the database, then there is a quite a few articles on Data Access Layers (DAL) on codeproject. Everyone seems to love doing it the hard way :P

I am using vb.net 2005 as front end and Oracle 8.0.5 for back end.How I can add oledbdataadapter and configure this to Oracle database.Whenever I tried to configure the oledataadapter and try to select the connection it shows only two data sources in the list
1. Microsoft Access Database File
2. Microsoft SQL Server Database File.
Any Idea how I can configure this to Oracle Database?

Hello Daniel,
In regards to your query I would like to mention that you are trying to bind "xmlns" prefix to "xsi" namespace URI, it is not the correct procedure because "xmlns" is a special reserved attribute name and cannot be bound to any namespace URI other than "http://www.w3.org/2000/xmlns/".
w.WriteAttributeString("xsi", "noNamespaceSchemaLocation", "http://www.xdomea.de xdomea_root_1_0.xsd")

You have to use the Win32 API to do this. There are no classes built into the .NET Framework to do it for you. Even if you use VB6, you still have to use the exact same technique.

i have built a nice webbrowser with visual basic 6
new downloads are open and and are linked to the application so
if i close the application the download is closed with the application
in the middle of the download i need help to solve it with of one of this options if possible 1.find a way for the download windows not to be linked to the application without using download manger (download mangers have problem with downloading from storage web sites like rapidshre)
2. does anybody have away to check if there are downloads in Progress so the application will not close if there is a download in Progress

Write a small, seperate application and launch it for each download, passing in the URL as a command line parameter.

If you have number 1 written, this becomes pointless. If not, all you have to do is add a counter in your code that get incremented for each download that starts and decremented for each download that finishes. If the counter is 0, then you can safely close the app, if not, well...

OK, I see what your getting at now.
You have two problems.
1) The webbrowser control doesn't expose any methods to get the URL of a file download in progress, nor does it doesn't expose any methods to know that a file download is currently in progress.
2) If you close your app, all the child windows close with it, even the file downloads. You cannot prevent this.
Under the .NET Framework 2.0 and above, there is a FileDownload event that tells your code when a seperate file download starts. I don't think event exists in the version you're using.

I have a common mousemove/down/up handler for any control placed on the panel at runtime .It's Working fine .
I need for moving and resizing controls (labels/textboxes/checkboxes/etc) and shape controls (LineShape ,RectangleShape, OvalShape which are from powerpacks.dll ) which i place on the Panel which are generated at runtime .
Is there any Class for creating Control Selection and Resizing Handles for my controls which are present on the panel at runtime ??????
I want to show the selection if user presses the control and able to resize those controls with resizing handles for Any Typeof control (Textbox,Label,.... LineShape,RectangleShape ,OvalShape ) ????
If i release the mouse button after resizing it has to update the size or location of that control same like in vs2005 design time environment but here at runtime .

No, there isn't. This functionality has to be built into the controls themselves, as well as some additional functionality added to the container you put them in.
You're going to have to extend the existing controls classes (Label, TextBox, ...) to make your own versions that support being moved around at runtime as well as containter controls to add support for drawing handles and resizing.
This is not something that can be explained in a few forum posts. It's rather complex and a bunch of points have to be covered to get basic functionality to work. You can learn more from these articles[^].

i want to Control the Concurrency in my Vb.net Application that is Connection to a SQl table. this is my thought and am open for suggestion. Firstly i want to Add an bit Field in my table and named it "Locked" e.g

if its "1" in the Locked field then its locked. So i want to have a Function in my DAL that returns a dataset, but when selecting records it should exclude those are not null in the "Locked" field, that means we don't select records that use locked. In my system we don't select Data for only viewing the, i was gonna create another object for Reader, but it was unnecessary. So when the user selects the records that are not locked, i want to have a Function that will locked those that are selected, so that another user cannot select them.
After the user has Finish with the Updating then the Lock is released , by setting the records that has been "locked" to Null.
My Question is this the good way to handle Concurrency ?
