Hi
I have an application which is vieweed through Internet Explorer. However because some users still have a small screensize they have to scroll sideways to see some of the page.
is there a way to write some code which automnatically fits the application to the size of the users screen?
thanks in advance

If you are using tables to design website, specify table width in 100%
|
|
|
|
|
I am using tables as well as other items
|
|
|
|

You should design your layout to be fluid, use % widths rather than fixed widths, then it will fit for different screen resolutions. I try to develop my web application to fit 800x600 and they can just stretch to larger screen resolutions.
The IE Developer Toolbar[^] allows you to resize your browser to simulate a smaller screen resolution.

thanks that sorted it reset them all to 100% widths

Hi all,
I am using this code to create a table in Asp.net 1.0(Page Load Event).
Dim table As Table = New Table<br />
table.BorderWidth = Unit.Pixel(1)<br />
table.BorderColor = ColorTranslator.FromHtml("#111111")<br />
table.Width = Unit.Percentage(99)<br />
table.CellPadding = 2<br />
table.CellSpacing = 2<br />
Dim cell As TableCell<br />
Dim row As TableRow = New TableRow<br />
Dim HeaderCel As TableHeaderCell<br />
For n As Integer = 0 To 2<br />
HeaderCel = New TableHeaderCell<br />
HeaderCel.Text = "Heading" & n<br />
row.Cells.Add(HeaderCel)<br />
Next<br />
table.Rows.Add(row)<br />
Dim tblrow As TableRow<br />
Dim tblCell As TableCell<br />
Dim tblTextBox As TextBox<br />
Dim chkbox As CheckBox<br />
For n As Integer = 0 To 2<br />
tblrow = New TableRow<br />
tblCell = New TableCell<br />
tblCell.Text = n.ToString<br />
tblrow.Cells.Add(tblCell)<br />
tblCell = New TableCell<br />
tblTextBox = New TextBox<br />
tblCell.Controls.Add(tblTextBox)<br />
tblrow.Cells.Add(tblCell)<br />
tblCell = New TableCell<br />
chkbox = New CheckBox<br />
chkbox.Text = "Test" & n.ToString<br />
tblCell.Controls.Add(chkbox)<br />
tblrow.Cells.Add(tblCell)<br />
table.Rows.Add(tblrow)<br />
Next<br />
<br />
PlaceHolder1.Controls.Add(table)<br />
Now I want to check/Uncheck all the checkboxs in the table.Is is possible with javascript without post backing the page.Or with postback.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply Bright. I tried like this
<script language=javascript><br />
function checkall(chk)<br />
{<br />
for(i=0;i < chk.length;i++)<br />
{<br />
chk[i].checked=true;<br />
document.all.<br />
}<br />
<br />
}<br />
</script><br />
</HEAD><br />
<body MS_POSITIONING="GridLayout"><br />
<form id="Form1" method="post" runat="server"><br />
<asp:Button id=Button1 style="Z-INDEX: 101; LEFT: 216px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 16px" onclick="checkall(document.all.chk_Resources)" runat="server" Text="Button" ></asp:Button></asp:PlaceHolder></form><br />
</body>
Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load<br />
'Put user code to initialize the page here<br />
Dim table As Table = New Table<br />
table.BorderWidth = Unit.Pixel(1)<br />
table.BorderColor = ColorTranslator.FromHtml("#111111")<br />
table.Width = Unit.Percentage(99)<br />
table.CellPadding = 2<br />
table.CellSpacing = 2<br />
Dim cell As TableCell<br />
Dim row As TableRow = New TableRow<br />
Dim HeaderCel As TableHeaderCell<br />
For n As Integer = 0 To 2<br />
HeaderCel = New TableHeaderCell<br />
HeaderCel.Text = "Heading" & n<br />
row.Cells.Add(HeaderCel)<br />
Next<br />
table.Rows.Add(row)<br />
Dim tblrow As TableRow<br />
Dim tblCell As TableCell<br />
Dim tblTextBox As TextBox<br />
Dim chkbox As CheckBox<br />
For n As Integer = 0 To 2<br />
tblrow = New TableRow<br />
tblCell = New TableCell<br />
tblCell.Text = n.ToString<br />
tblrow.Cells.Add(tblCell)<br />
tblCell = New TableCell<br />
tblTextBox = New TextBox<br />
tblCell.Controls.Add(tblTextBox)<br />
tblrow.Cells.Add(tblCell)<br />
tblCell = New TableCell<br />
chkbox = New CheckBox<br />
chkbox.Text = "Test" & n.ToString<br />
chkbox.ID = "chk_Resources"<br />
tblCell.Controls.Add(chkbox)<br />
tblrow.Cells.Add(tblCell)<br />
table.Rows.Add(tblrow)<br />
Next<br />
<br />
PlaceHolder1.Controls.Add(table)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
End Sub
and got the error as "'checkall' is not a member of 'ASP.WebForm1_aspx'" .. What could be the problem ?
Thanks
Dana

Your Button1 control is a server control and is looking for the checkall on the server side where it does not exist.
You need to call checkall on the client side using an input of type button, as in the previous example, like this:
<input type="button" name="Check_All" value="Check All"
onClick="CheckAll(document.myform.check_list)">

i have a code which allows the user just selects file using file upload then it is first saved and then converted to flv format.
But i want to show an animated picture when file upload begins and when all
the conversion is done, the animated picture should hide;
Thanks and regards,
|
|

I think you will have to use Ajax for that because if you are doing this in normal way, you will get the postback so that it doesn't matter whether the animation is showing or not.. the animation will be gone anyways.
OR
You can use IFRAME for that.. You can overlay the gif over the IFRAME while uploading and converting.

You can only hide the toobar and addressbar for popup windows. You can't hide/show the toolbar or address bar of current IE.

Can u guide me in c# code to perform Email tracking( Whether a mail sent, is viewed by the recipient or no)

What do you mean by tracking? creating a log in a database of messages sent, setting read receipt etc

Proper way is using read receipts. But it will work only on POP3 clients like outlook etc. There are many other ways like attaching a 1px image and checking the requests. But none of them are a good solution, and now a day's most of the email systems will block the images and scripts contained in the mail body.
|
|
|
|
|
You can log any System.Net.Mail.SmtpException exceptions which will tell you if a mail was not sent successfull to the mail server and you can add a read receipt to a MailMessage like so:
_mailMessage.Headers.Add("Disposition-Notification-To", fromEmailAddress);

HI all
In my asp.net page I'm attempting to use the OpenfileDialog object to
offer a common dialog box for the user to select a particular file on their
hard drive that may subsequently be uploaded
to our website.
The reason I'm doing it this way is that I've read that by using the common
dialog box, the security issues are based on the logged in user.
Of course, I added a reference to System.Windows.Forms and added a using
clause.
Here's the problem, when I use the following code
OpenFileDialog ofd = new OpenFileDialog();
ofd.Title = "Choose File";
ofd.InitialDirectory = [at] "c:\" ;
ofd.Filter = "All files (*.*)|*.*|All files (*.*)|*.*" ;
ofd.FilterIndex = 1 ;
ofd.RestoreDirectory = true ;
ofd.ShowDialog();
ShowDialog() throws the following exception:
[InvalidOperationException: It is invalid to show a modal dialog or form
when the application is not running in
UserInteractive mode. Specify the ServiceNotification or DefaultDesktopOnly
style to display a notification
from a service application.]
System.Windows.Forms.CommonDialog.ShowDialog()
TestPortal1.AttachFileForm.btnBrowse_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\testportal1\attachfileform.aspx.cs:73
System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.OnClick(EventArgs e)
System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button.System.Web.UI.IPostBackEven tHandler.RaisePostBackEvent(String
eventArgument)
System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(IPostBackEventHandler
sourceControl, String eventArgument)
System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(NameValueCollection postData)
System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain()
Any advise you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
monika

You can't invoke windows forms code like that from an asp.net page - this code will attempt to run on the server. You need to use the file upload html control.
|
|
|
|
|
OR
If you are using Silverlight, you can probably use "Safe File Open Dialog".
