Image conversion pbm

i have a db for saving an image into it with datatype image.I want to convert the uploaded image into byte and only save the image into the db.How is it possible.I tried it but i cant get it.Plz help me by sending some code to me.

The tried code is attached below

byte[] img=new Byte[Upload_Logo.PostedFile.InputStream.Length];
Upload_Logo.PostedFile.InputStream.Read(img, 0, img.Length);
string s = Path.GetExtension(Upload_Logo.PostedFile.FileName).ToLower();

Here the img file is of type image...

Hi Why u r saving image into database save the image in folder
on hard drive and save only image name and type into database.
Saving image into database is not a good practice.

I want my users create email themselves, such as yahoo.com . is there any API or other way to do this?

I think that the code will be depended on the EMail Server that you used. For example, if you are using Microsoft Exchange Server, you can find the code about how to manipulate the MS Exchange server.

To create a website like yahoo or gmail or any large website, it's not that easy. I suggest you to start with small application and read more about ASP.NET and the different kind of Exchange Servers. Once you got the solid idea, you can develop those kinda site..

Hi to all,

I m newbie to asp.net Sleepy | :zzz:

n its my first site which i m trying to develop (asp.net(vb)) but i m facing the tab index problem to navigate cursor to the next text box. Mad | :mad:

In my login page first focus in on user name but when i press tab again n again first it goes to the controls of top.ascx which is used in every page of my site n then goes to the addressbar n then come back to the password textbox. Poke tongue | ;-P

i fixed the TabIndex property 0(username) n 1(password)

In vb.net i use TabStop property to restrict the focus on control but i don't know how to do it in asp.net

Any help would be appreciated
I m looking forward to your suggestion

retreiving Images From Database with image datatype pbm

I have a database with some fields,along with this fields an image field with datatype image is tehre.But after saving all details into the db.the saved data will be displayed on a grid.But whn i tried to retrieve the data by selecting into a grid row the text fields are coming properly.But the image will be displayed only the first photo that i uploded.Only one image will be displayed for all the rows.What is the reason I attach the image retreival code in the rowcommand of the grid.

DataTable dt = new DataTable();
dt = insunit.GetUnit(id);
Img_Logo.ImageUrl = d.Rows[0]["UnitLogoPath"].ToString();

The Getnit() is to retriving data from the table..

Try this..........

dt = insunit.GetUnit(id);
for(int i=0; i< dt.row.count; i++)

But the pbm occurs in saving the image.All images in the db are same.How this happens.

Can you try to figure out ?

Img_Logo.ImageUrl = d.<big>Rows[0]</big>["UnitLogoPath"].ToString();

Here you are taking only first rows value... Smile | :)

Change it..
If possible bind data in RowDataBound Event of gridview.
On every row find appropriate data and bind it properly.

Hi Create a function in code behind and pass image name to that function.
and in item template om set image url property to the function name.

<asp:image id="imgreply" runat="server" imageurl=""><![CDATA[<%# Thumbnail(Container.Dataitem("reply_imgname")) %>]]>'></asp:image>

and in code behend this id thumbnail function.

 Function Thumbnail(ByVal img_name As String)<br />
        If img_name <> "" Then<br />
            Dim urlThumbNail As String = "thumbnails.aspx?iname=" & img_name<br />
            Return urlThumbNail<br />
        Else<br />
<br />
        End If<br />
    End Function

thumbnail.aspx is the name of the page where thumbnail of the image is
created.You can easily get the code for thumbnail if u havn't got
the reply me.
