Is there a trick to including jQuery (the intent is to add ThickBox) into ASP.NET master pages?

It works fine on an html page, but when I add it to the master page, I get a "CS1056: Unexpected character '$'"

Here's the code in the of the master page:

Am I doing something wrong that I can't see? Confused | :confused:

Is that code required? (You are not referencing the prototype but you used $().) I think that you won't need this line.

I honestly don't know Mike. I've wasted 2 days trying to get either LightBox or ThickBox to work on my site. Neither did.

SO...

I've decided to write my own gallery control $Shucks | :-\$ :sneaky:

As soon as I'm done with my ABE article, coming up real soon.

If you want to use the Lightbox, I can help you.. I love that box and used it for a lot of projects..

there are only 5 steps to do.. I suggest you to try and take a look.. let me know if you get any error..

I tried for 2 days, VS2005 simply didn't want the JS, it didn't like it. Then again, I'm not a web developer and this project (my site) is setting out to improve that.

I'll tell you what, when I get back home from work today, I'll go through it again and give you a shout on this thread telling you what's happening. Deal? Smile | :)

how to Rectify when config error comes when new project connected to asp.net project

Error1.
It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS. D:\cxml\CMS\CMS\Web.config

2. any downloaded project is added to the asp.net project or www.root while run the program the
error comes in the web config

Most error message are very informative nowadays. The error message that you got both explains the reason for the error and how to correct it.

A web.config file containing application level settings can only be placed in the root folder of an application. You have placed it in a folder inside an application. You have to configure the folder as an application in IIS using IIS Manager.

Experience is the sum of all the mistakes you have done.

You can google about that. There are a lot of examples for creating pdf file.

You can always use iTextSharp instead of Crystal Reports to generate your pdf documents.

The server should contain IIS and Dot Net Framework ..

1-You mean that I need to have only the IIS and .NET framework 2.0 installed on the server(without VS2005 being installed)?.

2-If this is what you mean are the source files(.aspx.cs) required on the web server?or I need only the .aspx files and the DLL files in a bin folder in a virtual directory?

Hi You need not to deploy .aspx.vb page.While deploying project on server
please deploy following thin.
- .aspx pages
- bin folder.
- web.config file.

thats all.

Hi Then right click on project the select publish option.
After that all files get published on your drive then upload only
that files to server. If you have any query then let me know.

Yes the bin folder is one of them but it cotains some compiled files(not dll files).Are they are needed too?.

Hi When u publish the website then .dll files are atomically created
in bin folder.

Hi,

I have a menu control in web user control (ascx). In menu the item has some subitems.I used it in my all pages of site the problem is the dynamic part(sub items) is hide by the control of the page.

I m newbiew to the asp.net so i don't know how to solve this problem?

I hope someone will show me the righ way to do it.

Hi,
are you binding subitems in page load of ascx page ?
and are you checking for postback too ?

Just bind items of menu in pageload.
Rather its postback = true or false.
