Hi,

I want to convert a particular integer value into indian currency format.

I am using this particular code, but it is resulting in dollars. I want the output in rupees format.

int price = String.Format("{0:C}",1234567);

I think you should set the culture as hindi (or your culture) before calling this line.

No. You can add this language in Regional Settings.

Actually, you don't need to change this in Regional setting. You can set this culture in ASP.NET at runtime..

ASP.NET setup question

Before I get into SIlverlight, I could use getting ASP.NET up and running.

I am trying to write my very first ASP.NET program.

I wrote a simple "Hello World" program and when I clicked on the button to run the code I got

But I figured that would be ok. I selected to "Add New Web.config file" and I clicked OK.

But then I got this error message:

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Maybe the IIS is not set up to run asp.net ?

IIS was installed and started after the .NET framework.
This was the cause of some problems.
But I fixed it.

On the command line, I went to

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\

and went to the directory of the latest version:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727

and I typed

aspnet_regiis -i

the computer responded that it was installing ASP.NET

and now, my programs work.

Does the Web Developer 2005 has an option for Optimistic Concurrency

Hello All,

Thanks for reading this post. Here is my question.
One of the development teams in my company is building the company website using ASP.NET. My team is building an ASP.NET website which part of the website. My app is going to reside as an application folder inside the main app. Iam using forms authentication for my site.

One of the requirements is after performing login into the main site, if the user clicks on a particular link it should log the user directly onto my site as well(Single Sign On). However much I try, on clicking on the link on the main page, it always goes to the logon page on my application because of forms authentication. How can i use forms auth to sign the user into my application and go directly to the page. The user id is stored in a cookie. Can i create a basepage which actually does the forms auth and pages inherit from it?? I have explained the scenario in very simple terms and it is more complicated than this.
Basically this is what i want to do...lets say my site is www.abc.com
i log in...and reach page abc.com/A.aspx ...i click on a link which will needs to take me to abc.com/appFolder/C.aspx....but when I do this, I always go to abc.com/appFolder/B.aspx which is the login page for appFolder(forms auth).. plz help...sample code highly appreciated.

I have this problem too.
Can anyone help me?
I use Forms authentication and have 3 .aspx pages:
1) Login.aspx
2) Default.aspx
3) Another_one_page.aspx
I open my Login.aspx, succesfully log in and redirect myself to Default.aspx. But when I try to go to Another_one_page.aspx from Default.aspx:
Response.Redirect("~/Another_one_page.aspx");
my browser redirect me to the Login.aspx page.
And when I insert credentials into Login.aspx, I will be redirected to the Default.aspx page again.
So, the Another_one_page.aspx is fully unavailable.

1.check if the forms auth cookie is being set after you login.
2. try response.redirect("Another_one_page.aspx",false);

I'm working upon a small project where I ask the user for there house number and postcode. I then want to automatically search for the users address so they can select the right one and save this to the database. Has anyone attempted anything similiar and if so could they describe the best way of going about this task. Any help is much appreciated. Also please note this is to only work with address in the UK.

You would need to purchase an address database, unless you fancy compiling a list of all UK address yourself. At my company we use the Royal Mail Postcode Address File[^].

You haven't explained how you are requesting your reports. However SSRS exposes a number of web services that allow you to make requests to a report server programmatically. The ReportExecutionService class exposes a Render[^] method can be used to process a report and render it in a specified format.

Well I'm using The ReportViewer object, and it's a local report if this what you meant on how i am requesting my reports.

I will look into the Render method. Thank-You for your reply. And if someone knows a good site that would explain this render method that would be convenient.

I'm not aware of any other articles on the SSRS web services. However the MSDN documentation (see my previous link) tells you everything you need to know, including sample code. Set up a web reference to the web service and you're good to go.

Hi guys,

i made an asp.net application report, and it works wel but it can
not export to excel. It does export to pdf. there is an unhandled
exeption that says some font is missing, but i dont think so because
before that, we had the same problem with pdf and finaly we found out that the application didnt have sufficient right to the font folder, and when we gave it that it worked.

So this is becoming more stranger that it has only problem
with excel. the point is that on the development server all works perfectly and this problem we have only on test server. i searched a lot
and googled a lot, there are very few sources about this probem and if there is one, it is the problem with both excel and pdf, can anybody help?
is there any known issue about this?

any idea is welcome...

Thanks Paul for your reply, the thing is that yesterday i was at home
and i couldnt send any error description, and surprisingly today without
me doing any thing the report works completely and no error to send to you.

but just for your information i will tell you a little bit more. I had 4
reports (one of which with graphic) and until yesterday morning (on test)
i couldnt export to neither pdf nor excel and also the graphic didnt work at all,...(we got the font missing error) anyway going to server guys we found out that application didnt have any right to read from the folder font of windows,...we gave the rights to it and all reports worked
plus all export to pdf, but no export to excel, for excel i got almost
the same error (font (?) missing) and it was very strange for me then because i had solved that very problem...(by now it was noon)
but until the end of day the export to excel just didnt work, and then
i posted this thread,...but this morning when i came at work export to excel worked to,....again thanks for your reply

Hello Every Body,

I have a button on my page, when i click btnShowReports then it shows my desire reports without asking login information (on page load event i put the report viewer login information)

But problem is, when i click the CrystalReportViewer toolbar (Export, Print) then nothing come also it invisible my CrystalReportViewer.

If I do it on Page_Load event then CrystalReportViewer toolbar work nicely

Hi Everyone,

Is it possible to schedule a task daily using asp.net and vb without using windows scheduled task and services. I tried using threads, it is consuming more memory and system gets hanged.

Can any one help me in this regard.

You could use a SQL job if this is an option. What is wrong with a service (it's what they're designed for)?

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
