iam getting data from a database and iam storing that data in a datatable ..now i want this data to retain its values for every event calling how and if any updation is made to the table in any event then it should got effected to that data table..and also even the page is post back also it should retains its value untill the application closed.

Jagdeesh since you are on ASP.NET you will have to expicitly "maintain the state" of the DataTable.

The three session state options for ASP.NET are:

In-Process
Out-Of-Process with a Windows Service
Out-Of-Process with SQL Server

Crystal Reprot problem

Hi! All
I m trying to creating crystal reports with push method (via Dataset);
but when it runs it displays a form that "The reprot you requested requires further information.
then has four textboxes Server name & Database name are uneditable,and other two are userID & password. ";
it never displays report.
But all works when i use to create crystal reprots with pull method (except dataset); it pop up same form over there but all fields are editable.
I set Crystaldecisions.share.connectionInfo at pageload event but it all in vain.
so how i solve this. any suggestion regarding this will be anticipated.

How i check if a cloumn value is null when already a search condition is avilable.I want to put a cloumn value from the database.Getting the value on a serch condition,also if the returned value is null thn an error occurs in sql.I want to chk if the value is null or not ,if the value is not null return the value..How the query is wriiten for that.

sqlstatement = "SELECT UnitId FROM user_UnitRoles WHERE UserId='"+UserId+"' ";
object s=dbtObj.GetColumnValue(sqlstatement, "UnitId");
return s.GetType().ToString();

I am not sure what you asking but i feel you should try to compare returned value to
System.DBNull in .NET CLR.

change your logic, if your GetUnitId method doesn't have any record then it should return something which shows that it's null.

Push your brain and it will work out for you

Server.HtmlEncode encodes data and should be performed anytime that you are allowing for free text in an input field. Server.HtmlDecode decodes data that have been encoded with Server.HtmlEncode.

You can use session("varname")=null; to clear the session

Session object in ASP.NET implements ICollection interface
So Session has a method
Session.Remove("entityName") ;

to remove all the items in Session collection one may use
Session.RemoveAll();
Session.Clear();

You probably need to have the list of spammer ip addresses in your database or need to use the third-party service for that..

ASP.NET is not an appropriate technology to use here, unless you're writing an app that reads mail online. Otherwise, why do you need web pages to filter spam ?

any one help me,

i am developing an application in asp.net having Mysql as backend.my problem is that my .aspx pages are present in iis in one computer and my mysql database runing in linux machine. i am passing a query like

SELECT * INTO OUTFILE 'd/temp/backup.sql' FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' FROM cris_cdr WHERE DATE_FORMAT(myDate,'%Y-%m-%d') >= '2007-06-24' and DATE_FORMAT(myDate,'%Y-%m-%d') <= '2007-12-06'

but it is throwing error as

Error Code : 1
Can't create/write to file 'd\temp\backup.sql' (Errcode: 2)
(78 ms taken)

i kwnow that the above query try to writting in the same machine(linux).

can you help me how i can write .sql file in iis machine.

Have you checked Authoring Custom Controls - Quick Start[^] and Building ASP.NET User and Server Controls -- Part 1[^] which are shown in the first result of Google?

Here is the list of custom control articles that we have on CP.

My advice is that don't spend too much time for finding the good resource and thinking too much.. Just make a search on Google. Read one or two articles that you got from Google.. and start writing your own very basic control.. then, you will get more idea..

In my hosting site SSL is enabled. I am able to access login page in secure(https)mode. After this page i need to convert the url from https mode to http. How to do it?

All you need to do is that just redirecting the https page to http page. but if you are using the ASP.NET session, you probably need to do a lib more work for that.
