This is a common question. Search Google for regular expressions and HTML tags and you'll find plenty of examples.

I think you're asking how to wrap long lines of text, which is an old web problem. There's no 'nice' way of doing this just yet, but you can use a variety of browser-specific CSS styles to achieve it: white-space

I'm trying to store a lengthy text in a table using oracle9i. I tried long datatype for the same. but when i tried to display the text using "select", it displays only 80 chars. Please help.......

How come you want to store the characters in long datatype? it's not possible. If you want to store the lengthy text then you can use nvarchar() for that.
Anyway, you are in wrong forum..

Hi can anyone tell me is there web site already built we can use free or do we all need to reinvent the wheel? i m looking for code to run a dating site .
thankyou

I guess the main question is, if you're going to run some generic code, won't you be running a dating site that is exactly the same as 100s of other ones ? I doubt such code exists, in any case, not in the public domain. More generic code probably exists which you could modify.

For some reason, no value is getting put into the text file I'm trying to create. Have tried numerous things, just shows up as a blank, as if the select box is empty, but it does have a value in it! if i remove the .value it displays [object] so i know its at least recognizing as an object. Please help this is for a school final project!
I left out a lot of unnecessary code, if you think i left out something important let me know. Thank you all for your help.
function send() {
f = document.form // Make a form variable
e = f.email.value // define email variable
c = f.MWc1.value
alert ("email is: " + c)
var fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
var s = fso.CreateTextFile("C:\Users\Matt\Desktop", true);
s.WriteLine(" test ");
s.WriteLine(c);
s.Close();
return true;
}
....etc. etc...

If you install Firefox and the Firebug add in, you can debug your script and look to see where the value you want is. I believe there's an innerHTML property, it may be what you need. Eitehr way, alert(f.MWc1.value) is the way to show the value you;re grabbing, to confirm it's empty, as it seems to be.

You have specified a name of a folder. What do you expect the name of the file to be?
Experience is the sum of all the mistakes you have done.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by that, could you clarify for me? Thanks so much for your help, truly appreciated.

"C:\Users\Matt\Desktop" is a folder, not a file.

I'm in an odd situation where I practically have to write a utility like Microsoft's WSDL.exe (a utility that takes a WSDL file and generates a C#/VB stub class that you can add to projects), except I'm needing to write it for another, much simpler language.
I was hoping to find some sort of helper utility online that would take a WSDL file and generate some data structures to represent the WSDL file (in any modern language: C, C++, C#) that I could then use to write a DLL to make my job easier, but every solution I've run across does the full distance (WSDL to data structures to source code) rather than just the first half.
If anyone knows of a great solution that could get me what I need, I would greatly appreciate it.

My company is working towards adopting a branded SharePoint Intranet powered by WSS 3.0. I have been given the task of creating some reuseable web parts for the various divisions. Honestly I'm excited and anxious to learn about and develop these parts of the whole. My problem comes from trying to reference a javascript scroller (Thanks DynamicDrive) within a WSS web part.
I've already implemented this functionality with in a current ASP.NET portal page, but when I try and do the same in WSS I'm unable to get the .js file to communicate with the rest of the web part.
Here is where I'm at right now.
Within the WSS page I have the .js file set as an embedded resource. I register the ClientScript in the overridden OnPreRender method
this.Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptResource(this.GetType(), "Scroller.Resources.Scroller.js");<br />
string scrollerCSSLink = "<link href='" + Page.ClientScript.GetWebResourceUrl(this.GetType(), "Scroller.Resources.Css.ScrollerStyleSheet.css") + "' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' </link>";<br />
this.Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this.GetType(), "ScrollerCssLink", scrollerCSSLink, false);
Then within the overriden CreateChildControls method I call another function (getData()) that incorporated a StringBuilder to put together the content and bind the data for the scroller itself, which comes from a document list within the SharePoint page itself.
string body = string.Empty;<br />
string url = string.Empty;<br />
string content = this.ClientID + "_content";<br />
string scroller = this.ClientID + "_scroller";<br />
string newContent;<br />
string placeKeeper;<br />
string ScrollerClass = "pausescroller1";<br />
int i = 0;<br />
<br />
try<br />
{<br />
SPWeb web = SPContext.Current.Web;
<br />
SPList list = web.GetList(ListName);<br />
<br />
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();<br />
<br />
sb.Append("<script type='text/javascript'>\n");<br />
<br />
sb.Append("var " + content + "=new Array()\n");<br />
<br />
foreach (SPListItem item in list.Items)<br />
{<br />
placeKeeper = content + "[" + i + "]";<br />
<br />
if (item.Fields.ContainsField("Body"))<br />
{<br />
body = item["Body"].ToString();<br />
}<br />
<br />
if (item.Fields.ContainsField("URL"))<br />
{<br />
url = item.GetFormattedValue("URL");<br />
}<br />
newContent = "{0}[{1}] =\"<a href='{2}'>{3}</a><br />\"\n";<br />
sb.AppendFormat(newContent, content, i, url, item.Title);<br />
<br />
writer.WriteBreak();<br />
<br />
i++;<br />
}<br />
<br />
this.btn.RenderControl(writer);<br />
sb.AppendFormat("new pausescroller({0},'{1}', '{2}', {3})\n", content, scroller, ScrollerClass, 2000);
sb.Append("</script>\n");<br />
LiteralControl scrollArray = new LiteralControl(sb.ToString());<br />
Controls.Add(scrollArray);
I've registered the .js file within the AssemblyInfo.cs file
[assembly: System.Web.UI.WebResource("Compnay.Sharepoint.WebParts.ScrollingListWebPart.Resources.Css.ScrollerStyleSheet.css", "text/css")]<br />
[assembly: System.Web.UI.WebResource("Company.Sharepoint.WebParts.ScrollingListWebPart.Resources.Scroller.js", "application/x-javascript", PerformSubstitution = false)]
And I've even tried to up the permission level in the AspNetHostingPermission block to Medium. I don't want to go any higher than that because I don't want to be that untrustworthy;P
I'm able to get the desired data from the document list and put it into the web part as a static list, I just can't get the scroller to incorporate into the web part. I've been surfing the net and come across several well written informative articles and I've started reading the Pattison/Larson book - WSS 3.0 (which is a great reference but only talks about AJAX integration).
I have been beating my head against the wall for the better part of eight days on this. At this point any help/suggestions/extra cartrigages for the chamber would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
(I could use one or nine of these despite it only being 10 AM)

You should try a ModalPopup window within an UpdatePanel, both of which are available from the AJAX toolkit I've used these controls and they are very easy to integrate.

Hi guys. For a website I am doing, I need to show images in a fullscreen window ( yeah, I know... )
So, I do this:
window.open(href, windowname, 'scrollbars=no,toolbar=no,status=no,menubar=no,type=fullWindow,fullscreen');
This works perfectly when running off my local machine. When I run off the server, the window goes the size of the full screen, but doesn't go 'fullscreen'. I'm guessing some IE7 setting is stopping it ? Is there anything I can do ? It's also ignoring my requests for no status bar, and there's some bar at the top with the image name in it.

Starting with Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP SP2, there seems to be a new behavior regarding the Full Screen (Kiosk Mode):
Using the window.open method with fullscreen=yes results in a maximized window, not a kiosk mode window.
