ASP.NET cookies-based session doesn't work with subdomain.. but there are three workaround to achieve your goal.
1) Use "out-of-proc StateServer" instead of normal cookie-based session
OR
2) Use the cookies instead of session...
OR
3) As "=?Utf-8?B?RG91Zw==?=" suggested here, set the value of session in every page..
Response.Cookies["ASP.NET_SessionId"].Value = Session.SessionID;<br />
Response.Cookies["ASP.NET_SessionId"].Domain = ".mydomain.com";
Hope it helps.

Hi there, does anyone know / have any indication of when the next releae of the asp.net framework will be?! Or what the roadmap is like for the next few years?
I'm only just getting stuck into 2.0 and am wondering if its worth moving to 3.5 already!

SO, you'll only move to 3.5 when 4.0 comes out ? I'm struggling to understand what the link here is
Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
"also I don't think "TranslateOneToTwoBillion OneHundredAndFortySevenMillion FourHundredAndEightyThreeThousand SixHundredAndFortySeven()" is a very good choice for a function name" - SpacixOne ( offering help to someone who really needed it ) ( spaces added for the benefit of people running at < 1280x1024 )

Hi,
I have two text boxes Email and confirmation Email. I need to force the user to enter confirmation email only when the email textbox is entered. If the value is not entered in the Email textbox then I don’t need to check the confirmation email is entered or not. How to do this in javascript I know I have to write one function which checks for the email textbox if it is empty then display the message after the confirmation email?
How to display the message after the confirmation email?
Which client side event we need to use for the confirmation email to call the javascript function?
Thanks in advance

In ASP.NET I would use a custom validator to do the checking yourself, you can also use a regular expression in this so it will check if the email is valid. This will create backup checking as well as front end javascript code for you.

I am thinking about making the switch to ASP.net. I am currently a PHP user.
I tried out Visual Studio and I like the interface (drag and drop is sure a lot nicer than hacking out all of my code).
My question is this:
How does ASP handle CSS?
I noticed that when you style an element using ASP, it puts all of the CSS as inline CSS which is frowned upon.
Does ASP have the ability to place the CSS in a separate file (or stylesheet)? If it does, will it create the style sheet for me? Is there some sort of option that tells the IDE to use an external file instead of inline CSS?
Thanks for the info

Its only html rendering to it is very similar.
There is usually a CSS file per project.

This can be done in either html or code.
HTML
<br />
asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" ToolTip="Hi this is cool" <br />
CODE
<br />
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
this.Image1.ToolTip = "This might be cooler";<br />
<br />
}<br />

My project(site) has a page named 'Login.aspx'. That's the loginUrl for forms authentication. It works fine as a project but once deployed request to that page will result in an error. What could be the problem I am getting access to the other pages only this one has the problem. I tried renaming it but still the error persists. I ve only renamed the page's name not its class.

Runtime Error <br />
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. <br />
<br />
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
Its not saying anything specifically about the error. I got the error fixed when I changed the class name to 'UserLogin' from Login. But love to know what has gone wrong.

Hi professionals,
I am a begginer in web programming and this question just popped in my head.
If I am to design a website that serves thousands of users conccurrently, let's say a forum, let us assume that we have infinite server bandwidth and storage capacity, are there any considerations I should take into account when designing my website, for example what is the effect of the following points on concurrency and performance of the database:
1. Choosing between different database engines (JET, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server...)
2. Optimizing the SQL Query.
3. Are there any techniques that I should follow in my C# code-behined to improve oncurrency? what are they (if any)?
4. Any other things to consider?
Thank you very much
Mohammad

1 - A perfectly layered architecture would give easy solutions for maintaining your application.
2 - Understanding which operations are costly and, using right controls and data access classes.
3 - Proper caching of your data.
4 - Disabling viewstates on the pages which doesn't require postback
5 - Indexing the tables
6 - Designing the pages with DIV and CSS instead of using tables.
and many more
