Then where are you getting the problem? Once you saved the data (inserrt) into the database and bind the gridview in the first page it will work OK.

Hi, I am working on outlook and ASP.NET integration. I am using the following class method to create a folder in the outlook 20003 contacts folder.
public class Folder<br />
{<br />
public static void CreateFolder(String folderName)<br />
{<br />
Outlook.Application oApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application();<br />
<br />
Outlook.MAPIFolder oNs = (Outlook.MAPIFolder)oApp.GetNamespace("MAPI").GetDefaultFolder(Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderContacts);<br />
oNs.Session.Folders.Add(folderName, Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderContacts);<br />
} <br />
<br />
}
From asp.net page I am passing the folder name. But it is throwing following exception.
The operation failed.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

hi,
in my project i want to get the system time. for that i'm using the system.now.tostring() to get the time. but its showing the server time. how we get the client system time.
please help me....

Easiest way would be to use javascript to get that and then pass it back to the server through a hidden input. Another option is give the user a js cookie, then pick that cookie up the next time code executes on the server.

You can have a look at this[^] article to know how to get the systems time of the clients machine.

I have created a usercontrol which has some images,Login button and logout button.This control i am using in all the pages.In one of the page there are some textboxes,OK button below it and the same usercontrol at top of the page.
when i press enter in textbox control,focus goes to Login button of a usercontrol and calls its event automatically without pressing it.This happens in every page where textbox is there.When i press enter key i want the focus to go in OK button instead to usercontrols login button.

Hi, I am doing a web control and wish to show a drop down in the property window, just like when we drag a Label in our project, if we switch to the property window, we can choose the BorderStyle, which consists of several values (None,No set, dotted..etc.) in a dropdown list.
If I return my property as boolean, it is set to True/False in the dropdown, if return as string then it is a textbox..
What type should I return in my case?
Another question is, we can see that the property (ID) has a bracket, in my application, how can i put a bracket?
Thank you .

Declare a Enum which would have your property options in the property window.
Set the Type of your property to the Enum.
Eg.
Public Enum ControlViewStyle
None = 0
Single = 1
Double = 3
End Enum
Public Property ControlView() As ControlViewStyle
Get
End Get
Set (ByVal value As ControlViewStyle)
End Set
End Property
Try and Let me know...

Hi Friends,
I have worked in many projects where we develop our own Login Pages. I have seen the Login Controls available in VS 2005. I have tried once but dropped. I have some questions about those controls.
1. What the use of those controls appart from UI?
2. Where authenticate themselves?
3. Is the data stored in DB?
4. If so, can I customize that DB?
If I get answers for the about questions, it would be nice to update myself.
Thanks

Hi Venkatesh,
(1) The use is greater functionality and yes also the UI.
(2) Login control authenticate the data in a DB. You can customize this DB or even create one from scratch.

Ummm... Then why ask the question in the ASP.NET forum? It would seem to me to be the worst place to ask this question if you don't want to use that technology.

I am binding two template fields,with two buttons like edit and delete,with gridview.
Now during run time, I am binding a datatable with gridview.(say about 5 rows.)
Now,when i click on edit button,i want the rowindex of the clicked row.
I tried this by doing, gridView1.SelectedRow.RowIndex.
But it threw error only.
Please advice, that what may i do.
Thanks.

What is the error? If you don't explain what the problem is, it's unlikely someone is going to be able to help you find a solution.

Dear Programmer,
I am developing an application in ASP.NET using language VB.NET. I have
created two pages named Page1 and Page2.
On Page1 I have placed two textboxes to get input from the user and
also put a button. I want that the data which I input in the textboxes
placed on Page1 will be displayed on Page2.
Please tell me what shall I do to accomplish my task. You can tell me on this ID: zeeshan_st2003@yahoo.com
Waiting for your reply.

you can pass data between pages in multiple ways:
1. store the data in session and then redirect (response.redirect or server.transfer) to the next page and access the data from session.
2. you can pass data in query string
3. you can set postbackurl for the button and then access the values from the previous page using Request.Form like:
<br />
in page 1 do this:<br />
<asp:Button ID="button1" Runat=server Text="submit" PostBackUrl="~/Page2.aspx" /><br />
<br />
and then on page 2 use<br />
<br />
string field1data = Request.Form("fieldfrompage1");<br />
<code><br />
<br />
4. you can access the previous page controls using PreviousPage.Controls.. <br />
<br />
<div class="ForumSig">-----</div>

In ASP.NET 2.0, you can use cross-page postbacks to accomplish this. Have a look at this article[^].

What is the difference between membership and roles? As a newbie, I don't really see how/when you would choose one over the other, or both. Any info on this would be appreciated.
Thanks.
|

|
To answer shortly: membership refers to users, role to a group of users.
Consider to following scenario: a website has both registered users and editors. You assign the role 'User' for the former group, and 'Editor' for the latter. After that you can do authorization checks based on the users' role. Also if for example you hire a new editor and create a user account for him, you don't have to set his rights explicitly. Just add him to the 'Editor' role, and he'll have all the rights as any other editor.

1. We don't care if it is urgent.
2. Use plain English--not text speak.
3. Don't mix upper and lower cases. It's annoying.

Thank you for ur help
but I don't think that putting an ad on a post like that would help attract more bloggers.
