You cannot supply a format style to do this. You'd have to implement your own DataGridViewColumn to provide this functionality. Also, your other problem is localization. Not every country has the same phone number format.
Google results[^] for "vb.net custom datagridviewcolumn".

Hello every one,
I was trying to use may different custom cursors in different situations in my application. I was able to set icons (.ico files) as icons.
I also have to show these icons on the form.
Is there any way that i load these icons as cursors from the picture box
Regards

No. Icons and Cursors have very different file formats. You'd have to use a conversion tool to convert between the two, AND supply the location for the cursor "hotspot" to complete the conversion. The "hotspot" is the pixel location in the image where the "click" happens.

Hi Dave
My exact issue is that i do not want to give the icons as individual files as they may be deleted by the user knowingly or unknowingly.
I tried to add them in a new resource file but did not found a option to do it so i loaded them in different picture boxes and was hoping that may be i can use them when i will require to change the cursor..
Is there any other way to solve the issue

Then you put them in resources. A PictureBox is just plain useless to hold a bunch of seperate images. You're needlessly complicating your code for no reason.
If you're using VB.NET 2005, you double-click the "My Project" node in the Solution Explorer, click on the Resources tab. There, you can add your icons and the designer will generate resource manager class code so you can use the icons quite easily.

Hello there.
Consider the scenario below:
End-user has a paging device (IXO Device, AlphaMate, etc.) or a software that sends page messages. The device/software needs:
- number to dial
- pager number
- messag
Now that device/software connects to the "number to dial" and transmits the "pager number" and "message" to the receiving application (listening on "number to dial" using a modem)
We have got the receiving application working ok. But that app is a 3rd party tool and have some limitations so we wanted to develop our own listening application that will be connected to the "number to dial" using a simple fax modem.
As far as I know I would need to use the AT commands for this purpose. But couldn't find any usefull resources for this. All I can see is AT commands set whereas I would like to get hands on some code showing proper flow for receiving data from phone line.
Could anybody help me on this or guide me to some resource?
Thanks

<br />
Dim txt As String = "blablabla $ cucumbercucumber"<br />
Dim txt2 As String = txt.Substring(txt.LastIndexOf("$") + 1)<br />
Value of txt2 is " cucumbercucumber"
My advice is free, and you may get what you paid for.

This question is better suited for the Mobile Development forum.
In order to use that .DLL, you have to be running Windows Mobile 5.0 (Windows CE 5.01) or better. You're probably running Windows Mobile 2003 (Windows CE 4.20) or Windows Mobile 2003 SE.

Thank you. I thought about the forum before posting the message but its also related with .NET 2005.
I have windows mobile 5.0 and I have imported that dll in it. But I also need aygshell.dll(updated with SHCameraCapture function)
Where can i get it?
Thanks
Azeem

I've created an inventory system using VB6 and ms access as Database.
Everytime I have to click Exit it should delete all the previous transactions and end the form.
The command that I used is
Adodc1.Recordset.Delete
End
But what happens is that it only deletes a single row at the Database
What command should I use to delete all rows?

Invoke a DELETE FROM ... SQL DML command against your database.

Hi all,
I have found this[http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821775] one for enumerating the installed softwares. Now I want to get the main exe name associated with that software. How can I get that one. I found in registry that the installed exes are found in the path
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\
But I am not able to combine both those things
Thanks in Advance
Dana

You can't combine the two keys because there is no relationship between them. Everything under the Uninstall key is concerned with exactly that, only how to uninstall the package. It doesn't have any way of tracking what the main .EXE for that application is.

Thanks for the reply Dave.
Take this situation. If the user has deleted some of the files in a particular software folder(like the main exe).If now I try to run that particular exe, Then calling that program may produce an illegal result.

Yep, you have to handle that case in your code. That what exception handling is for. Trying to prevent it is pointless.
In either case, you have to validate the result returned anyway. Or were you just going to blindly trust whatever output you got from an external application?? THAT'S what you should be worried about.

Thanks Dave. I have handled that one. But I thought that there might be some way.
Thanks for the advice

Not really, no. Even if there was, it's still a bad idea to try an get around it. What's to stop someone from just replacing the .EXE or a virus get's ahold of it? You STILL have to validate the data you get back from it, even if the external app is considered "good".

You're going to have to find a board that supports this library.
You can only add a reference to COM-based or .NET managed code DLL's. The error is telling you that the DLL you're trying to use in NOT COM-based, or is not registered on your machine, or is not a managed code library.
Since you haven't been able to import the classes exposed by the DLL, you cannot use the Dim line that you posted. This will only work once a reference has been successfully set.
