I have tried using the project u mention. It currently generates a single page pdf document. I was not able to figure out how to make multi page pdf documents with it..have u had any success in this regard??when i tried adding more text than a single page could hold it kind of ran out of the page..how do i tweak or add to the code to make it generate as many pages as necessary to hold the data??if you could please help me on this matter..i appreciate your time..

I'm trying to serialize a number of simple classes over socket, and it seems to work pretty good locally. I connect to the server, which sends me a simple text, which client prints, then I go into a loop on both sides where client initiates requests by creating objects of type "Request" (which I have defined) and serializing them over the socket.
The server then deserializes them, and creates an object of type "Response", which it then serializes back.
It all work very well, until I try connecting _from another machine_.
I get a connection, but the data just isn't sent (from server to client. I manage to send data from the client to the server).
I've tries serializing to memory and then sending the socket, but it seems to be incompatible (somehow) with just using a plain binaryformatter onto the networkstream.
Here's the server code:

Works well even remotely for the first request, but after that I get this exception (in the client):
Exception: Binary stream does not contain a valid BinaryHeader, 0 possible causes, invalid stream or object version change between serialization and deserialization.
It seems there is superfluous data sent from the server when using the MemoryStream.
Any pointers? Thanks in advance.
Ideally, I would want to get it to work without using the MemoryStream.

Hello,
I got this weird problem when checking and unchecking boxes. I am developing a backup program that works every similar to Backup Exec with a add'l features. If you select a directory (folder) to be backed up it seems to run through a constant loop until all the files and folders associated with that directory have been filfilled. Does anyone have sample that they might be able to supply me to use so that I can get this to work correctly? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hello all, I am having a bit of a problem with databases. Right now I have an application that stores data into an access database. But when the database goes over 2 gigs the application crashes out and it starts over writting the header file. Please give me some suggestions with using other database collectors, that would be a great help. Thanks

DO you use Access or SQL?I think Access has some limitation for size of database.SQLServer is more trustable for large database.

This is happening because Access limits the database size to 2 gigs. You might try archiving, I don't know if thats easy in access or even possible in your application. The long term solution is to migrate to SQL server. It's relativly I easy I think(I have not done this in a production setting so I am not sure how well this works).

I want to Drag a node from TreeView1 and drop it to TreeView2,For that i do like this:

I think you need to add an event handler for the DragOver event on TreeView2 to signal that you are ready to handle the drop. Try this:

My program "A" connect to a database, and write data to a xml file.

And I have another program "B" will access test.xml every 30 sec. Sometime the program "A" will cause an unhandled exception like this:

The process cannot access the file "test.xml" because it is being used by another process.

My question is :
1. How can I check the file is access by another program before writing data to this file.
2. Or, How can I ignore this message automatically.

You can trap the exception

If anyone has a very good C# book to recomment, please let me know. I don't want something that takes me by the hand (altough OOP principles and the philosophy behind Windows\Web Services programming would be nice...). I know my way around although I've never really touched C++ before (mainly Javascript, Perl, ASP and PHP).
Also, are C# and VC++ really different? If yes, I guess I'd like suggestions on good VC++ books too!  Is there a big difference between the VC++ for Visual Studio 6 and Visual Studio .NET? Thanks!

Inside C# by Tom Archer is a very good book. I have the first edition but the second edition is supposed to be better.
Visual C++.NET Step-by-Step is also a good book for learning how to program .NET under C++.

If you haven't done much .NET before, I think you want a frameworks and language book. Troelson (Apress) and Liberty (O'Reilly) are pretty good choices here.
If you want a C# language book, I like my own book (Gunnerson (Apress))
If you want a VC.NET book, Challa and Laksberg (Apress) is the only one I know of, but there might be more now. VC.NET is pretty complex, however.
And yes, C# and VC++ are quite a bit different. They're both curly-brace languages, but C# is considerably less complex.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'd like to check out the first two books you mention (Troelson's and Liberty's) but was wondering if they're compliant with the final releases of the Visual Studio .NET? Archer's Inside C# is sais to be compatible with .NET beta 2. Is this the same thing with the two other books or are they up to speed? Thanks again!

If you can get your hands on the 2nd Edition of Inside C# it is updated for the final release. In addition to that the page count has doubled with lots of new content (or just about doubled; I don't have the exact numbers in front of me).
I'll recommend the second edition of Inside C# to anyone who wants to learn C#; but I haven't read Eric's, Jessie's, nor Andrew's books so I can't form any comparison between them. I can only offer that Tom's book cleared up a few things for me while I was reading his book, AFTER I had read Wrox's Programming C# with the Public Beta.
I've even learned something new from the second edition as well; so it's well worth the investment.
And just as any reputable news organization will do; I will let you know that I'm currently working with Tom on a new project.

The changes between beta2 and RTM were really pretty tiny. An updated book is better - because it will contain lots of small fixes - but I don't think the delta will be much of an issue.
I think that Liberty has an updated version out. I'm not sure about Troelson.
