Sorry for the confusion. I have edited the initial post.

3G/GPRS is the cellular networks that surrounds us and made available from the Mobile operators. A modem in our mobile phones connects to this when e.g going on the internet. When we ring someone then we are simply dialling each other's modem numbers I think(over the GSM network) which is completely different.....
To cut the story short, GPRS and 3G are the same in effect but 3G gives faster data rates.

To go on to this cellular network, a modem is required to dial in to this network (a bit like those of you that is on dial-up internet at home).

When I use my 3G datacard (connected to my laptop) then this is in eefect a 3G modem and I can install some software, run it and I get connected to the 3G network......so I want an example code or pointers on how to write my own code to intialise and setup the modem for connection....
