hi
i'm using c#.net 2005 and mssql 2005 express edition and developing a automation program.
i wanna update customers database(anywhere) via internet on my server(my office) like an antivirus program. when customer run my application program, then start to checking of database updates and if its necesseray update it.
i haven't any idea for do this.which feature will helpfull to me?
(it will be another program which is running when the operating system starts.it will be another programming language.)
how can i solve this.

Just guessing, and from memory:
You can probably use HttpWebRequest to setup a stream to the image, the use myBitmap = new Bitmap(stream)
Just use google to find out how to use HttpWebRequest.

You can use WebClient class to give request to a URL. Alternatively you can use HTTPWebRequest.

Perhaps if it's urgent, you would actually like to supply some meaningful information. What interface? The UI? IEnumerable? Flushing the toilet?

So you're asking how to get the method information for a particular type?
MethodInfo[] methods = this.GetType().GetMethods(); From here you can find out information about method names, scope etc...

The simplest way i can think of is to have another picture box / anything that you can give a background colour, make it slightly larger than your picture box, pand place it behind your picture box. Set the back colour to Red, and set its visible property to false.
Then when you click the button set the visible property to true.
Alternatively you can override the onPaint event and add in the border yourself.

1st Problem
The problem is that i have a Main Mdi form with a drop down menu say File->New when i click New a child form opens and if i again click File->New another similar child form opens i want to restrict this that if a form is open second child form must not open on clicking new (any article or Code)
2nd Problem
Second Problem is about resizing of controls on the similar project disussed above if i place a group box on the child form and put some controls when i run it the controls are adjusted as i placed and there is lot of space empty on the child form how should it be done that when i open the child form the control should be resized according to the maximize button and according to the size of the parent

I have tried so many different logics to display different values in a datagridview combobox column but with no result.All the rows show the same values.

Hello to all,
this is my problem,
I have a list of objects of type message_A. message_A is a specific message with it's own types.
I of course have Message_B and message_C etc.
I now want to create a List to hold all kinds of messages, using polymorphism.
in order to do that, I created an empty class called messages(for instance) and made
every message type inherit from it.
this way I am able to do:
List<messages> myMess = new List<messages>();
messages Amessage = new message_A();
myMess.Add(Amesssage);
this works fine, the problem is when I want to use data from the myMess[i] type, I can't reach
that data.
meaning, this won't work:
DT = myMess[i].timeStemp;
when writing the dot "." I can't access any of the public types of message_A It was created from.
Please Help me.
I am kind of new to C# specifically and Programming all together.

Because you have a list of base objects, the derived properties will not be there. Your best bet is to create an enum of class types, and make each class type tell you what it is via the enum. Or, find a way to offer a common, base interface that can do the different things you want via polymorphism ( so, timeStemp is defined in the base class, and holds a value that's valid relative to the type of object you have ). Only things derived in the base will be visible, your only other route is to use is or as.
As in
MessageB mesB = myMessageA as MessageB;
if (mesB != null)
{
// It was of MessageB type.
// mesB now has the full MessageB interface.
}

If you know for sure that they are all of this type, then just make your list of this type. Any that are not, will come back null and throw an exception.

By making sure that the method or property you have is not null? You can try giving it a default value at instantiation.
