Hello everyone,
I am building a DLL using embedded VC 4. When building a DLL (written in C) for platform MIPSFPU, there is a strange link error.
fatal error LNK1112: module machine type 'MIPS' conflicts with target machine type 'MIPSFPU'
Here is the link option I am using. I am wondering what is wrong with the settings?
commctrl.lib coredll.lib /nologo /base:"0x00100000" /stack:0x10000,0x1000 /entry:"_DllMainCRTStartup" /dll /incremental:yes /pdb:"MIPSIVRel/recover.pdb" /debug /nodefaultlib:"$(CENoDefaultLib)" /out:"MIPSIVRel/recover.dll" /implib:"MIPSIVRel/recover.lib" /subsystem:$(CESubsystem) /MACHINE:MIPSFPU
thanks in advance,
George

Hi,
I've not done any mobile coding before so am unsure how to do this. Basically, I'm writing a program in C# and running it in VS2005 under the emulator.
When the emulator shows up, it doesn't display my form I've created, it waits around 1min and then it suddenly appears. I want to make it so it displays instantly, or if anyone knows how to do this which would be a much better way, is to add it to the "Programs" list on the smart device, since i will need to deploy it onto a device and not use the emulator when the project is completed.
Any ideas, like i said, I've only been playing around figuring out how to do the basics, e.g: display something!
Regards,
Gareth.

don't worry gare,
when you run your application,it takes less time.you can feel this thing by running other program of real device & your program. Both takes approx same time.but within your application if your data loading time is too much then you can try following statement.
Cursor.Current = Cursors.WaitCursor
above statement change your default cursor to wait cursor.
and after loading data, change your wait cursor to default cursor using following statement
Cursor.Current = Cursors.Default
hope this helps

Hi Rupesh,
I already know how to change the cursor so no, it doesn't really answer my question. Sorry.
The problem is, i don't have any control on loading the program, it just appears, also if i click close, i cant re-open it. Thats why i asked if anyone knew how to add it to the "Programs" list or another method.
Regards,
Gareth.

The startup time might be an emulator issue which goes away when deployed on the actual device. First the emulator has to load and start, then it needs to run your application. Even running on the actual device, there is a start-up time to sync up with the IDE environment when connected. Just something you live with.
The program is likely defaulted to download into the root directory on the emulator/device.
You can copy a shortcut to your application into the Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder.
You can do this automatically by using a CAB file to install your application on the target device. See linky.

Hello,
VS 2005 CF 2.0
I have created a PDA device and will allow the user to write their signature.
However, I am having problems with the saving part.
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa446559.aspx
I used the above as a example, and took out all the code I needed to draw the signature and the new button.
I need to save the signature and add it to the database as an image. I think I need to convert the signature to an bitmap, but not sure how to do this.
Many thanks for any help and advice,
Steve

Rather than a BMP file, it is more memory efficient for a hand held to save the signature as a series of X-Y coordinates and pen-down/pen-up notations.
Have you looked at this CP article which stores signature in BMP file?

Has anyone had any success installing the CE 5 emulator on Vista 64? It fails on the install for me, saying it was interrupted. Event viewer yields this result:
\??\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Drivers\vmm.sys has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system.
Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver.

Hi folks,
I was messing with a GSM modem in Hyperterminal and saw a multimedia message come across. It was expected to look like a string of characters (it was a picture), so it worked fine. I'm curious though--is there a way to translate that string into an actual picture on the computer? Like some kind of applet that, if I take that string and copy/paste it, would make a picture on the spot?

Hello,
I have created a PDA application using VS 2005 in VB and CF 2.0.
The customer wants to be able to write their signature using the stencil into a text box. This will then be saved to a SQL Server 2005.
Is there a method which the user can write their signature into a text box?
Another problem is how will this be saved to the database? will it have to be a picture or image datatype in the database?
Many thanks for any suggestions,
Steve

Have a look at the "Ink" SDK on MSDN.
Otherwise look at making your own ownerdraw control that tracks the pen and draws on a bitmap and save that to the database.
You might also what to check the rules for digital evidence in your juristiction if these signatures are supposed to have legal weight.

Hi guys.
I'm having a really hard time installing the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 on a Compaq iPaq 3950 that has Windows CE 3.0 as OS. I'm new in the Mobile Programming... The first thing I'd like to know is if the CF 2.0 is compatible with this Pocket PC 2003.
The other thing is: Pocket PC 2003 is different from Windows CE 3.0 ?
Thank you !!

You cannot install the .NET CF 2.0 on a Pocket PC 2002, only on Pocket PC 2003 and above.

Pocket PC 2003 is based on Windows CE 4.2 while the Pocket PC 2002 was based on Windows CE 3.0.
