i was checking the difference between the session.clear an session.abandon.
goggle says
session.clear clear all the values from the session variables , but keep the variable in the memory.
session.abadon destroys the session variables.
later on i tried to implement it.the i wrote the following code.
Session("abc") = ""
Session("def") = ""
Session.Clear()
Session.Abandon()
after the execution of the second line , there appears two sessio variable in watch window, i was actually debugging it.
after the execution of third line session.clear , it left the session variables counting to zero.
i found contradiction , i think , accorgding to the statement written in the google and the code that i implemented.

I think what it is saying is Session.Clear clears the session, i.e. removes all the session state entries, but leaves the session active. The OnSessionEnd event will not be fired.
Session.Abandon will do just that - abandon the session, and the OnSessionEnd event will be fired.

In addition:
OnSessionEnd event will only be fired when State mode is InProc.

How urgent?
Are the two requests running asynchronously using the same XmlHttp object? If they are, then they will overwrite. If they running sequentially, synchronously, then there may be something wrong with your logic. Maybe post some code you are using

hi
iam posting you the code. plz tell me how can i do this.
in the postpage we are posting str
Public Function postpage(ByVal str As String) As String
Try
Dim xml As MSXML2.XMLHTTP
xml = New MSXML2.XMLHTTP
Dim iTimeTaken As Long
xml.open("post", str, True)
xml.setRequestHeader("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded")
If str1 = "" Then
xml.send("")
Else
xml.send(str1)
End If
tmstart = Now
Do
tmcurr = Now
iTimeTaken = CLng(DateDiff("s", tmstart, tmcurr))
Loop While xml.readyState <> 4
If xml.readyState = 4 Then
postpage = xml.responseText
Else
postpage = ""
End If
xml = Nothing
Catch ex As Exception
postpage = ""
End Try
End Function
this is for getting the page
Public Function getpage(ByVal str As String) As String
Try
Dim xml As MSXML2.XMLHTTP
Dim iTimeTaken As Long
Dim getpage1 As String = ""
If str1 <> "" Then
str = str & "?" & str1
End If
xml = New MSXML2.XMLHTTP
xml.open("GET", str, True)
xml.send(str)
tmstart = Now
Do
tmcurr = Now
iTimeTaken = CInt(DateDiff("s", tmstart, tmcurr))
Loop While xml.readyState <> 4
If xml.readyState = 4 Then
getpage = xml.responseText
Else
getpage = ""
End If
xml = Nothing
Return getpage
Catch ex As Exception
getpage = ""
End Try
End Function
calling this fucntions:
function main()
dim str as string,src as string
str="www.yahoo.com"

if str1 <> "" then
src1=getpage(str)
end if
end function
this is my code
now pls tell me where it is wrong.

there is little confusion in assemly, module meaning is ok.
following is the understanding that i have
Module in VB.net is similer ro class in C#
assembly is a small unit of code for deployment
One point to be noted here is that both assemblies and modules contain Metadata which describes them
could somebody explain the meaning of assembly , the sentence which is written above.

Assembly can contains different modules
Moduels have Metadata and IL
Manifest have information about these different Modules and Resorces those are in the Assembly

forms-This authentication relies on code written by a developer, where credentials are matched against a database. Credentials are entered on web forms, and are matched with the database table that contains the user information.
windows-i am passing the users who are authoried to view the particular page in the web.comfog file.
are the meaning of the terms right.
passport-Please explain this term

What aren't you getting exactly? Authentication is a big area, too big to detail here - that is what Google / MSDN is for. You are asking general questions, so I can only give you a general answer. If you have a specific issue with one of the authentication methods, post the question and somebody will help. Google is your friend!

I imagine you will have big issues with the web.comfog file. Most people use a web.config file.
Ok - let break this down
window-i am passing the users . Passing them from where to where? How do you 'pass' them? The idea of windows authentication is that you don't do anything with the users and let Windows authenticate them for you.
who are authorised to view the particular page Again, unless i am mistaken, permissions on webpages have little to do with the website or the page content itself. Permsissinos are granted by the filesystem based on names and groups.
in the web.comfog file The web.comfog file tells the website which type of authentication is being used. You can also use this to grant permsission to different pages of a site if Forms authentication is being used.
I have no knowledge of passport - but if I wanted to know I would google for it.
Your turn to answer a question:
Have you used google to search for any of these terms? If you read up on these terms on at least two or three different websites then you'd get a clear understanding of their meaning and use.
Even better - search for Authentication on the CodeProject homepage. You will find all your answers there.
