I want to make a row red based on value of cell for a datagrid.
Now I have code that works for bound columns but if its a ItemTemplate its no good.
Here is code that works for bound Columns
<br />
Protected Sub GridView1_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles GridView1.RowDataBound<br />
Dim sStr As String<br />
sStr = Convert.ToString(System.Web.UI.DataBinder.Eval(e.Row.DataItem, "Status"))<br />
If sStr = "DEAD" Then<br />
e.Row.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red<br />
End If<br />
End Sub<br />
Can someone please assist me and supply code for checking data on a itemtemplate please.
thanks coders

First set a command name and commandArgument to some cell text like this
<br />
<ItemTemplate><br />
<asp:LinkButton ID="Link" runat="server" CommandName="Open" CommandArgument='<%# Eval("ID")%>' Text='<%# Eval("ID") %>'></asp:LinkButton><br />
</itemtemplate><br />
then write this code behind
protected void grdVDataQueries_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e)
{
if (e.CommandName.Equals("Open"))
{
string args = e.CommandArgument.ToString();
}
}
God Bless you.

I'm trying to use Response.TransmitFile in ASP.NET 2.0 instead of reading and writing chunks to a buffer for large files.
The questions I want to ask are:
1. Does anyone know how efficient Response.TransmitFile is? I can see that it doesn't add up the memory usage to IIS at all, but I'm not sure the impact on the server itself compared with reading and writing to a buffer in chunks.
2. What about security? The web application is using HTTPS and I don't know much about socket programming. Should I use Response.BinaryWrite instead if I'm using HTTPS?
Thanks,
Ed

I'm trying to setup a treeview to contain multiple items on each row, including an imagebutton control, but I don't know how to implement this correctly.
Basically, my treeview looks like the following ("+" signs are the locations of the treeview "+/-" signs):
=============================================================
Name Disability Date View
-------------------------------------------------------------
+ John Smith (imagebutton)
+ Elbow
7/23/2006 (imagebutton)
12/01/2006 (imagebutton)
+ Knee
1/23/2007 (imagebutton)
+ Jane Doe (imagebutton)
+ Wrist
4/13/2007 (imagebutton)
5/18/2007 (imagebutton)
7/01/2007 (imagebutton)
==================================================================
Does anyone know how to implement something like this or know of a good tutorial?
Thanks.

Sounds like a permissions issue. Is this your server or is it a 3rd party server? If it's yours, make sure the folder you are trying to create the file in has "write" permissions enabled for your account. Are you listed as the administrator or a particular user? Ensure whichever username you're using has the propper security permissions.
If it's a 3rd party server, contact the hosting company and inform them of your error. They'll look into the folder permissions for you.

I need to build a gridview DYNAMICALLY. The number of columns will vary but will be known when I start building the gridview. The first row of the gridview is a row of checkboxes (in other words, all the columns of the first row have a checkbox control). The second row and onwards have the data that is fetched from the database and displayed . The second row and later rows are read-only. After the grid, there is a submit button. When submit is clicked, the code-behind should identify which checkbox of gridview columns (NOT rows) is checked and do certain processing. So, my questions are:
1. How do I build the checkbox control DYNAMICALLY for all the columns in the first row?
2. How do I check which one of the checkboxes of the gridview columns is checked?
The answers in VB please.
Thank you.
