Hi,
Mouse related event handlers get two arguments, the second argument has properties
X and Y giving the mouse position relative to the top left of the Control that
fired the event.
And there is property Control.MousePosition that gives you the mouse position
in screen coordinates; you can convert it to a relative position using
myControl.PointToClient()

hi...
How to make data communication from one application to another application ???
for example, value from variable in the first application must be stored/send to second application.
Does anyone know this tecnique??????

You need to be writing both applications. WM_COPYDATA is the simplest method to use.

This is VB.NET 2.0 using Visual Studio 2005
I have 2 forms and one day may have 3 that do almost the exact same thing within a project with the exception of a couple of extra drop downs on one.
What is the best plan of action, do you think, for dealing with this to simplify the coding process of coding the project? I thought I would use an inherited form and put all of the common code on the base form and set anything that might change to overridable but Im unsure if that would be the best course of action.

If you only have 2 forms, why don't you either:
A, Put the data in tabs, or,
B, Just use one form either with or without logins.
Will either of those work for what you're needing?

You are getting the error becuase there is no item after the last item in the list. I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish, but you should check to see if you are currently selecting the last item in the list (use ListBox.Items.Count) and either don't move change the selectedIndex or you could set the selectedIndex to 0, to go back to the first item in the list.

I need something that will help me do the following:
tbxScrollTo will scroll through a somewhat large table (> 3000 entries) when you press a key in said textbox. For example, I type 6 and it will go to the closest entry to '6' (which turns out to be '63,' but I don't want it to go that far. Maybe + or - 10), and if I add '00' then I want it to go to Id '600.' However, if there is no '600' entry, I want it go to the closest one, '603.' I'd really like to do this without buttons, but it's a backup plan. Does anyone have any ideas to help me get started?

Hi,
first a preliminary remark: if your data is line oriented, it makes no sense to
me to show it in a TextBox; I would use a ListBox every time, it does not have
the overhead of concatenating all the lines, then the pain to find the line
beginnings and endings when you need to do something.
A listbox contains Items, that can be instances of your own class; or it might
just be strings. You can make it "OwnerDrawn", hence you can paint the items
any way you like. No sweat.
second: what is the problem? you seem to know which line you want to scroll to,
so just do it. Of course, a ListBox knows to do that quite easily, with its
TopIndex property.
Good luck!

The first table is 5 columns wide (table 1) and assembled in a hierarchy. I used Janus GridEx 2 (if that matters to anyone). There is another table that is 40,000 lines long (table 2) then another one that is a whimpy 40 lines (table 3). Table 1 is connected to table 2 which is connected to table 3 to form the hierarchy. I use a textbox (actually, Janus EditBox 2) because each individual number that I will be searching is unique. I was figuring that maybe this is possible, but I have found another way to do this. Thanks for the help!
If this matters to anyone, I used the filter on the GridEX itself.
Thanks again!

I have this problem :I have developped a application in vb.net.This application use a microsoft Access database.I have used data wizard to create the connection , dataset , etc.But now there is a problem in our company : There are several Access Databases on some network computers and we want to work with these databases on my application. All the databases are identical . Now how can modify my application to make possible for users to choose one of this databases and to work with it.
I don't knoth if is possible to change the connection string ?
Or there is another way ?
Thank you in advance !

You should be able to have multiple connection strings in the app.config file, if you are going that route.

store the connectionstring in the settings file (property's of project -- settings)
then you can access this setting like my.settings.'what you provided for name'
you can add multiple connectionstrings if you want
you can create a form on wich the user select the db and you then create the connectionstring and store it to the settings
...
|
|
|
|
|
Thank you
The databases are on different computers , later we can add new databases on other computers , the location of databases may change so is not possible to create multiple connectionstrings.
I like the idea to create a form where user to select the database and then to create the connection string.
But , how to create and store the connection string in the settings file ? Can you give me some code to do this ?
Thank you !
|
|
|
|
|
to create a connection string in the settings file:
go to project -- property's -- settings tab there you can add a string (call it connectionstring (or somthing else)) or a connectionstring type value (I sugest a string since you want to easily alter it)
to save the connection string:
my.settings.connectionstring (or something else ) = "a connectionstring"
my.settings.save ' normally not needed but just to be on the save side
then use the connnectionstring :
dim s as string = my.settings.connectionstring
make sure that you set the connectionstring setting before you use it (otherwise you'll get a nice error and crash )
this should do it
