hi,
I am trying to implement an array of images that will perform one function when clicked, and another when dropped onto another control.
Drag and drop works fine, but the problem is I am losing the use of Image_Click/MouseDown/MouseUp and so I can't get the code together.
I apologise in advance if this is a trivial query, but it is really beginning to annoy me!!!!

Hi,
I have a Visual Basic 6 application with an executable that is about 800KB. The application uses various active x dlls. No other application uses these dlls.
What will the advantages/disadvantages be of adding the active x dlls into the project and compiling it as one? It sure would make maintenance much easier.

I would like to know how i can play a wave file through TAPI. My requirement is to hook up to a telephone number through a Modem and when the connection is successful, the application should play a wave file.
I have succeded in connecting to a Telephone line using TAPI
Can some one help please.

It's always a confusing problem to me:when i finish a application and want to distribute it,i must create a setup and make a package for it.But how can i know which components(like DLLs,.OCX,.tlb and so on) i need and which information i shall write into registry...
In fact,i wrote a program in VB,then i use the tool "Package and Deployment" to create a package.But when i tried to setup it to test,it failed,noting me that the file "$(selfRegistryEx) " not found in my Temp folder.I dont know where's wrong

The package and deployment wizard is a good tool, and its always detected all COM dependencies for me.
You might want to try the Visual Studio Installer. It uses the newer Windows installer .msi format. (Requires InterDev)
Note however I think that there's a problem with using vsi1.1 for VStudio 6 and having Visual Studio.NET installed on the same machine. But in that case I beleive you can use VS.NET deployment project to package your VB6 project.

Although they cost money, installshield makes some pretty good products. You should check them out @ installshield.com. But like I said, they'll cost ya.

I have massive spreadsheets of data to wade through and am hoping to automate the process.
I would like to make a chart of the data (x-axis is time stamp) and then have a script/macro so that I can go through plot and pick off data points by clicking on the plot. The script would read off the time-stamp and value of the closest point to my mouse click and paste it into another Sheet. I currently have to hold the mouse over the data point until the value pops up in a Tool-tip and then manually enter the value, or copy it from the original massive list.

You could always use Carlos's Outlook control within your VB.NET application, that's what is great about the framework. You were trying to port this over to VB.NET weren't you???

Sorry, but this a non-doable thing. Enums are named constants so their values are determined at compile time.

I got this proggie from the net.It has 2 parts(the source code) :the math part written in VC and the user interface written in VB.
The VC part is copiled as an OCX. So,since my only interest is to modify the user-interface, i open the VBProject and i "regsvr32" the OCX. As i try to make it .EXE (without modifying anything) it said:
"Line 15: Cannot load control txtText; license not found. Line 73: Cannot load control RichTextBox; license not found."
In Project/Components there where 6 references, but as i open the VBP file with notepad i see only 4. References for fm20.dll and richtx32.dll are NOT there.
So, i tried to "regsvr32" them but it did not work !

To use the RichTextBox control in your application, you must add the Richtx32.ocx file to the project. When distributing your application, install the Richtx32.ocx file in the user's Microsoft Windows SYSTEM directory. how could i parse this string:
"smiley<8><1315643>" say "test message" (dead)
to this type:
smiley say: test message (dead)
but smiley and test message could be different each time.

You will need to provide a bit more information than what you've given. To parse the values <8> and <1215643> would have to mean something. I'm not sure where those numbers come from. You will need thier translation table. It's all downhill from there.

How do create a floating window in VB6 that minimises when the main application is minimised.
I've tried using the SetWindowPos prcodedure contained in the user32.dll but the floating form doesn't minimise when the main application minimises.

I’ve have a VB6 question about treeviews and tooltiptext. I would like to have node specific tooltiptext appear as I hover over the different nodes in a treeview (e.g. As Internet explorer does as I hover over my favorite links). Is there a way to accompish this?
